Do original 1970-1 E/B Body speedo cable outer plastic covering have a smooth or a texture/waffle like design? Thanks for any info.

Jim, of the originals I've seen, they have a very slight waffle/ribbed appearance....most aftermarket/NORS are smooth in appearance

That's what I thought.I think I got drilled on buying what I was told a NOS cable.

I've bought NORS speedo cables (New Old Reproduction stock) directly from the dealer years back when they were available, technically they were NOS, although slightly different in appearance, it's just that Chrysler either outsourced to a different vendor years later to maintain stock, or the vendor retooled perhaps, typical of any mfg

To some NOS is still just NOS, regardless of what time period it was conceived at, to others like yourself, I know your looking for "vintage" 70's NOS or assembly line replacement quality
