Lots of good info here. http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/library-2.shtmlBasically the GTS was the performance model. The GT gave you some of the sporty GTS equipment without the larger engines. You couldn't get the 340 or 383 in a Sedan, 270 or GT. The interior/exterior trim were specific to the model.(trim and engine options varied by year)

In '67, the GTS was introduced in very low numbers. It was only available with the 383, and they are rarely seen now. In 68 the 340 was introduced to the GTS as the base engine. In '69 began the Swinger 340, with the 340 as the only engine option. Swinger 340 carried over to 1970, but the GTS and factory big block A bodies were history.

Early 69 had GTSs, mid year (not exactly sure of the date change over) it went to Swingers. GTS standard with buckets (bench was an option), Swinger standard with bench (I believe not bucket or console option).
????
No.
The GTS and Swinger were separate models and were offered simultaneously throughout the whole 1969 model year.
Just like Road Runner's being offered simultaneously with GTX's.

From 1967-1969 all GT and GTS's were 2-door hardtops. 457 383 GTS's were built in 1967. In 1968 the 340 became available for the GTS. In 1969 the 440 became available, 640 made. The GT and GTS shared many trim parts, but the GTS had no side moulding therefor no holes though the sheetmetal was the same, you have to weld or bondo the moulding holes to make it look like a GTS. The 1969 340 Swinger shared the GTS sheetmetal with no trim holes, but had the low-line dash trim and bench seats, and rubber floor coverings were standard, carpet was extra. Late in the 69 model year you could order buckets, but very few were built that way.
The funny thing about science is that if you change one miniscule parameter you change the entire outcome to the way you want it.

I know they are 2 different models but I didn't think they ran together like the GTS and Swinger. I thought, maybe incorrectly that the GTSs were built early 69 and then they switched to the Swinger, is this incorrect? Did they run GTS & Swingers at the same time? I do recognize the upscale nature of a GTS in relations to a Swinger but never associated them to RR/GTX but it's a good comparison.
They ran GTS's and Swingers at the same time.

I'm almost sure that the GTS option, along with the Swinger option, didn't come out until 1968
Nope. GTS in 1967 and Swinger in 1969.
