Looking for some good expert thoughts on a 69 Hemi Roadrunner that we are restoring. What Bendix master cylinder was used on a front drum brake car? I have seen pictures where these cars did NOT use the booster and offset bracket. Secondly, where we can see a brake booster and offset bracket, What Bendix master cylinder was used on this application? I guess this would be with front disc brakes?

I've been told that ALL Hemi Roadrunners used the booster and disc brakes but I've seen cars with only a master cylinder w/o the booster. I guessing these were front drum brake cars?

What is correct? Maybe some original car owners car to chime in.

Thanks for your thought.

Buddy

off the top of my head 69 was std with drum all around (11x3 front 11x2.25 rear iirc) first option would be power drum and finally power disc.
I'm absolutely NOT sure about the master cyl's yet believe there are two different ones 1 for manual drum, the other for power drum or disc.

The Ram Man will have the answer to some of your questions. A friend just got the hemi booster and master cylinder from him. Great guy to talk to and very knowlegable. Google " Ram Man "

A 69 HEMI Road Runner could be equipped with either manual 4 whl drum brakes or power discs that used the offset dual diaphram Bendix Booster....your "restoring" a HEMI Road Runner, what was it equipped with?, or are you looking to "upgrade" the brake package?

I believe the offset is needed for valve cover clearance and for spark plug replacement.
The 4 speed cars cam with power discs standard. Not sure what the options were for drum cars.

Transmission choice makes no difference on the brake package. The axle option does. If the car was ordered with the A34 Super Track Pak 4:10 dana then it had power disks std. A 4 speed ordered with the A33 axle could have manual drums. That's the way my original 69 Hemi Charger 500 is equipped. 4 speed with manual drums.

What ever you do, if you use power brakes, use the stock type Bendix booster and mounts. I enabels you to remove the booster to adjust valves etc., without having to remove break lines. I bought mine from the Ram Man after first trying a "chevy" copy that didn't work. Expensive but it is not only correct, it works.
