I have a set of old (original ?) used 440 pistons and connecting rods. Other than scrap, are they good for anything? They all "look" fine except one of the pistons has a chunk missing from the skirt. I just didn't know if they are just trash or what............ thanks!!

Connecting rods can be reconditioned so don't throw them away.

I wouldn't expect to get any money out of the pistons.

Connecting rods are re usable but they are not gold. Not saying you are one of those guys that ask a ton for your stuff but how often have we seen: "All original 375hp 440 wedge magnum connecting rods! Came out of a good running engine! Act fast- at $300 they wont last!"

Keep old mopars alive.

Or worse..."Genuine SIX-PAK rods"

I went to school with Bill Muncey's kid (Will), he would take the old mans hydroplane pistons (from Rolls Royce 27 liter Merlin engines) and mill of the back side and mill a few channels and sell them for $10 as ashtrays. I kick myself for not buying one, but $10 was a lot back then.
They were enormous.

To a fellow "husker", I bought a set for $40 (rods only) & I just saw a set(w pistons) on here for $20 + the shipping(from another state) & you'd have to pay to get the pistons pressed off. EDIT they most likely need the big end rebuilt & a set is generally worth $50-$60 somewhere in that area & there are new rods available fairly cheap nowadays.

I think John at US Car Tool used to sell nice powdercoated pistons as paperweights or ashtrays. You could use it as a jellybean dish.

Hey Robert,
Nice weather huh.... 60 one day 20 the next.

You sure it wasn't my ad here on Moparts that you saw selling them for $20? I went ahead and put them in the engine section to see if they are worth anything to anyone. I'm not going to use them and don't have the ambition to do anything "creative" with them............ I just want them off of my shelf, and if someone here can use them, GREAT!!

only in Nebraska. I think that was a guy in Iowa that had them. A buddy is offering me a set for $40 with the pistons already pressed off.
