How hard can it be to change oil and filter on a 2014 Ram with the 5. 7 hemi? I have three filter removal tools, 2 sockets and one band type and none of them fit. Is there some special one that fits the original mopar filter which by the way is extremely tight, some big mother must have installed it.

I have nylon strap types. They work better than any others.I used one at work for 30 years.Lots of people like to overtighten filters.Rocky

Those will crush some really tight filters.Nylon strap with a 1/2 inch drive ratchet will remove them from small to large.I use mine a lot on the HD filters which are a pain to get to.That and it works on diesels too.Rocky

I did get the thing off, had to buy a cheapie band type wrench, size was 2-1/2" to 3-1/4" and the filter was very tight and hard as heck to get at. Also messy too so I will likely use an oil change service and say the heck with my own oil changes.

I would have to be an invalid before I'd take any of my stuff to an oil change place. I used to work at one & know first-hand that most of the people they hire don't have a clue about cars. A few do, but most don't. I had to correct a lot of mistakes!!!!!!

What filter did you put on it? I laid a piece of pig mat across the frame and differential on mine to catch most of the oil.

cnxt it works on every filter pretty much.I had a hard time on a few foreign cars at work but all others were a breeze. You can use an open end whench if a ratchet dosent fit.Mine has a real flexible strap. My kids has a stiff strap. His is harder to use than mine. After close to 45 years mine still does the job.Rocky

There's not enough clearance to get in there with the plier type tools for most DIYs. As a DIY, I use either a Lisle jaw type with the springs so it stays in place and a universal and extensions or what I would really like to find is a cup tool that really fits. I would look at the Lisle catalog... The claw twist type clamp works ok too. I think Lisle also makes a band type tool that you use with a ratchet. Everyone has there own preference.

Not looking forward to changing the oil on my '14 now.
It's not that bad, 2wd should be a breeze. At least my 12 was.
