If any of you are out at the Gator Nationals this year, look me up. We were called back in November about bringing our 1971 AA/FC out to the Gators to put on display. While it may not be a mopar body, 71 Mustang, it is pure mopar HEMI that powers it.

Everything on the car is original as last raced in 1975 except the body and headers. She wrecked the car at that race and destroyed the body. Donnie Reeves made the body, Al Bergler did the tin work and Dave Hirata did the paint work. Still trying to find someone to do the gold leaf lettering on the sides. This car was restored back to original right down to the flaws in the body. I did not want a show car restoration, I was after an "Authentic" restoration. Kenny Hirata was heavily involved with the car back then and Dave and I used his memory and pictures for all the paint work.

Here is a picture of the car and the original owner driver, Nitro Nellie. She was inducted into the East Coast Drag Racing Hall of Fame this past October. She will be at the Gators as well.

Rick

Yes, Here they are.

Since these were taken, I have all the original decals on the car now as well.

Thanks guys, it has been a project that was very consuming. But it is very nice to walk out into my garage and see it all painted now after so many years of looking the way it did! To say my garage is a little colorful now is an understatement, especially with the Panther Pink cuda sitting by the funny car.

You never know how hard it is to find some of the original period correct parts you need at times. As an example, the magneto was missing the the rotor and cap. I looked for about four years to get these two pieces, I ended up buy a whole brand new magneto at an estate sale just to get these two parts! Same thing for the o-rings in the calipers, they are obsolete now and again, I found two brand new loaded calipers and another estate sale.

Hope to see everyone at the Gators.
