Thanks for the support. It'll have a 12mm p-pump 66mm Borg Warner turbo 5x18 injectors and nitrous. The motor is out of a RV it's a 94. The trans is out of a 2wd 2500. It's 4 link from jegs out back. With a 8 3/4 and 2.73 gears full tubs s&w cage. It's been long in the making picked up the car with slant 6 in it for 900bucks. The car will be ready for the race season to race my girl and her 34 chevy cummins Ratrod.

I want to keep the build as mopar/dodge as possible. I had a dana70 out of a 3500 but too big and spools are not available other then one I found. The 8 3/4 was super cheap compared to dana60 and with the spool big axles shortened length of shafts the axle should handle plenty for now....thanks for looking out for me and the build.

That 47 will never live. You can build it with the 48 5 -gear planetary's, but the weak link will always be the overdrive clutch/spring. You can update to a 48 overdrive, but by then, you could just use a 48...and the 48 won't live either with that torque. You've got options, but none are cheap.

I don't think I'll ever need the overdrive the gearing and tire size will keep me out of it... But any pointers or tricks to making it live longer will be appreciated. Can I keep the 47 out of OD with a manual Valve body? Thanks

Unfortunately no. The OD units clutch is used in direct and OD. You'll still pull through the clutch with OD off.

If OD is not needed, you can just build a 727, or dare say I, a Turbo 400. The adapter on the back of the engine is available in Chevy, Ford, and Mopar. I'd say a Powerglide is out because your going to need 3 gears in the quarter with the rpm band of the engine. If your going to have one built, pick something that has gear ratios available for it. You can tailor the gear split to keep the diesel in it's narrow power band. Probably be best to check in with the Cummins truck drag race guys. They will be a lot more helpful on recommending a transmission and know what will live. I only know what won't!!

BTW, I think your going to want a lot more rear gear.

Thanks for the info. We already have my girls truck with a powerglide adapted cummins. Fully built 2.70 gears 33x18.50s runs 10.87@123mph footbrake picks frontend off ground.
