I will say this Attended his Mopar show for years --always a good event. One year had some Hemi stuff--Don comes by--looks it over --asked about a block--he was very respectful--made a good offer that we accepted--did not beat us up--he needed it for car they were doing --everyone was happy. No whinning--no asking for special treatment etc. What I admire as much as anything is his work ethic--I have seen more than one racer that simply "out worked" the competition--Herb McCandless is the other standout in that dept. Both men are similar and alot alike. No doubt--my racing heros--well...Have to add Petty, I am a North Carolina boy!

What I find special about Don is the fact that he did it all- He was a great innovator,he built and designed the chassis, built motors and tuned them, then climbed into the car and beat the best out there. On top of that we all know he was a standup guy. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbs.gif)
