I doubt it is the cam choice, should have tons of torque. If the cam was installed correctly, and none of the lobes are wiped out, then I would look at ignition timing, and fuel system. May need a large accelerator pump shot on that 6-pack?

This is my cam card for my 512 b motor stroker. I set the initial at 19 degrees and backed the mechanical to 36ish after reading a bunch of threads on here. Also dialed the vacuum advance back a bunch of turns to eliminate pinging. It's a bear off the line, smoke and sideways etc.

496 with 9.2-1(no quench),ported iron heads,ported ch4b intake,Holley 750 hp,TTi 1 7/8 headers,3" to x pipe/2.5 back,11" converter,3.55 gears,16-18* initial 35* total in a 4400+lb c body and has run a best of 12.54 @ 107 with drag radials.

In my 440/496 I am running a comp hyd roller. It was custom ground for my engine from part #23-000-9.
gross lift at intake .589/exhaust .595
duration at .050 .242/.248

Ported Eddy heads, 9.7 comp, Holley SD, 4 speed, 3.54 rear, 1 7/8 headers with 3 inch exhaust, MSD pro billet distributer, Proform 850DP, total timing 34 degrees
Car runs extremely well and will melt tires at will
