With my W-9 motor I used to change out roller lifters all the time by fishing them up through the cylinder head with a telescoping magnet and a stiff piece of wire and a flashlight. In this case all you have to do is remove the valve cover rockers and pushrods. That motor used to eat lifters.
Just sayin.

I have edelbrock heads and my 828s won't come out with the heads on.

The w9 give you more room than the std layout. If the eddies wont let you pull em prob the same with the Indy.

Same here, Eddy heads, comp roller lifters, close but no cigar with the heads on.

My W9 59 Deg R3 Johnson Hydro lifters needs the head to come off. And I had the lifter gallery machined for the standard style lifters. Matt

I have mostly built and ran big block molars, but leaning toward building a 340. Has there always been different issues with roller lifters and small blocks? Why do you have to pull the heads to take out the lifters? Wont they come out if you remove the intake?

No, they are too long and hit the heads when tried to pull out. I am not used to have such problems on a Mopar, maybe they got some ex-Ford engineers designing this....

The 59 degree angle (carried over from the poly days)certainly doesn't help as the angle makes it worse for removal. Although the 9.58" deck is taller than SBC and SBF but it doesn't seem to help at all.

exactly but the high cam location is why it is so easy to stuff so much stroke in them.
