What are the real weights for either of these in a 2 door post or hardtop with a big block / auto ?
I know what the shipping weights are but they seem somewhat optimistic .
thanks

My 1965 Satellite factory weight was listed as 3,250. It actually weighs 3,470 lbs. The difference may be the extra weight of the 440 over the original poly 318, plus larger wheels/tires, added sway bars, etc.

thanks,
that puts it around 100lbs less than my 68 Satellite with aluminium headed 440 and fibreglass hood

Last time I did a four corner weight check my '65 Coronet was right at 3500 lbs and was split 50/50 front to back.

It has a big block with aluminum heads, intake, water pump, etc. up front and a Dana 60 out back. So I guess that is why the distribution is even.

AndyF,
do you run any fibreglass panels ?
I was hoping to go lighter than my Satellite then fit a lightweight hood and bumper

Oh as an aside - if I use your replacement rear spring hangers for a Plymouth will I be able to use the 22" later springs ?

Years ago my 64 Savoy with max wedge, auto, dana, gutted interior and one van seat no bars, weighed at Budds Creek raceway, the car was 3045 lbs all steel. How accurate, don't know, but it was for the class cars at that time.

I weighed mine two years ago at a Goodguys show courtesy of Ride Tech. 3941 without my slim 280lb butt in it. Car has iron head 440, 727, 8 3/4 and had like 1/2 tank of fuel in it. It was heavier than I thought. The new Indy low deck wedge I got for it weighs 450lbs with oil in it but no accessories on it. That will help plus I lost some ballast too.

That's quite a bit heavy for an early B.
Mostly they would not top out over 3800 and change with a Big block. The A864 and A990's were 3100 and change as factory lightweights so a stock one with even a Hemi would probably be at 37-38 and change.
My post was about in the high 36 and change with a small block.

It is now 3123 with an iron Alumi-head Big block and counting till it reaches the 2900 LBS threshold.

Is that 3123 actual weight or advertised weight?

I had a customer who owned a 1965 Satelite with bucket seats, power steering, power brakes, radio, heater and air conditioning. He put a disc brake kit on it also, 426 street Wedge, 727, 8 3/4 vinyl top street car. It weighed over 3500 lbs wet without him in it at the old LACR, Palmdale drag strip according to there scales It was probally closet to 3700 lbs than 3500 lbs My 415 HP M.W 1963 steel front end Belevdere two door sedan had to weigh a minumum of 3320 lbs. without me in it when I first started drag racing it in NHRA stock class back in 1979 I had another bracket car, 1963 Belvedere hard top, with a Dana 70 and a mild steel Chris Alston .120 wall 12 point roll cage and steel wheel tubs that weighed over 3550 lbs with no driver on the same scales at LACR It had one small fibreglas race seat, very thin carpet, lightweight rims and light weight drag tires, no creature comforts features at all IHTHs Duster are easy to make a lot lighter than that

Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)

Maybe i should stick with a 69/69 Plymouth
Mind you last time i weighed it was at the track scale . I weighed it on a public weighbridge when i imported the 68 7 years ago - steel bonnet all iron 440,copper radiator, cragar keystone 14" rims was about 1610kg / 3545lbs . Who the heck is accurate ?

Find a friend who may have race scales as part of their race program equipment, slip him/her a few dollars and put that pup on the scales. I have my own, but quite far away from you.

One thing is dont go by shipping weight as they are always way off. As I have said my 63 is all steel and stock with a glass hood and I added the frame connectors and a 6 point rollbar. It goes just over 3700 lbs with my 180 in it. So its about 3530 without me in it. Take out the rollbar and frame connectors its most likely about 3400 lbs and then add a few for the glass hood you got around 3450 bone stock the way Ma Mopar built it without anyone in it. Ron
