maximum entropy OP master M Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 5,080 organ	is it necessary to deck plate hone a filled block? it seems to my pea brain that it wouldn't be. for what is the good life if not doing things thoughtfully?

Cab_Burge I Win C Joined: Aug 2003 Posts: 43,116 Bend,OR USA	Carl, I have BHJ torque plates for both the B-RB and 426 Hemi(sold the SB one last year)and a lot of head gaskets, let me know if you want to use it. BTW, I hate filled blocks Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)

Locomotion master Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 5,894 Florida	You have to remember that most of the thread engagement and resulting distortion is towards the top 1/2 of the bore. Blocks are not usually filled to the top, but it will affect it anyway. It also wouldn't hurt to torque the main caps before honing with a plate also!

Locomotion master Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 5,894 Florida	If you have the time, patience and/or money, why not! I've heard of plates bolted on both side for setting up as well as honing. Even heard a rumor of someone running hot water through it!
