.....to 66 and newer tranny? My woman just bought herself a 65 Fury 1 with a 383 auto. The tranny is sloppy. I have several 66 and newer trannys to choose from. I found this product from A&A that looks good. Any input? http://www.aandatrans.com/Products/Colum...cle__AACCC.aspx

http://www.imperialservices.net/Cparts.htmlmiddle to end of the page is the only other choice I am aware of. never done it, but thought about it. also noticed that the newer van's 90's seem to have a "cable" type shift in their columns and thought about seeing how that might work too.

I used imperial's cables when I put a newer 727 in my '65 belvedere II. It's a good kit, not too miserable to install and adjust. But it took over 6 months for them to send it to me. The main reason I did the trans swap was to run a newer style valve body, IMO that was the only bonus.
In order to know what you want, you'll probably have to find out what you don't want.

For the $160 cable conversion (add $100 for the conversion trans mount) you're close to the cost of overhaul parts for the '65 trans.

I have a 727 cable shift transmission that I took out of my 65 Coronet when I converted to 4-speed. The transmission worked great when I removed it 3 years ago, and it's been stored in heated garage since then. I'm located in Missoula, MT. If you are interested, send e-mail to cparrish1965@hotmail.com.
