I just parted out a 65 Satellite and a while back a 65 Coronet. On the doors and the 1/4 panels where the narrow trim clips on below the stainless trim at the top of the door and 1/4 panel are these the correct clips that were used? Are they available aftermarket anywhere?
I see the trim clips for a 68-70 B Body vinyl top trim are nearly identical.
Can anyone confirm the total needed to do both doors and 1/4 panels? (I think I count 26)
I have a guy who wants a set and I may have trouble coming up with a complete set.

Edited to say Satellite instead of Coronet.

Those clips are not for the trim on a Satellite, at least any I have seen. My Satellite trim is held on by little rectangular plastic clips that have a dowel in the center. I haven't seen any aftermarket variations either but am going to use some off a 63 Fury as they looked identical but were a different color. Figured that out staring at it in the garage next to my 63. Luckily I had a buddy who was parting out a 4 door Fury and I snagged what I could. They have a tendency to deteriorate in the sun. Those rocker molding clips are another story by themselves. As far as how many, I would have to go home and count the holes.

When I parted out the Coronet it had never been painted so I assumed it had never been apart. The Satellite I just pulled apart was painted years and years ago and had these clips. Did they use both types or has someone changed these out on two separate cars?? Ist car came out of NY and the other about 70 mile away. I think I have an old Satellite door in storage. maybe I can go see what it has. Could it be a Plymouth or Dodge thing?

It very well could be a Dodge vs Plymouth thing. The lady at the Auto body store suggested I try their generic clips like the one you had posted. So I supposed if someone had pulled the trim to paint it they could have used those. Or in my case when most of the trim was in the trunk you are left to fend for clips and screws. I also noticed you edited your original posting. Didn't it say Coronet 440 before? I have a few 65 500's with the skinnier trim I can check to see what fasteners they use for the those. Pretty sure I tossed most of my 440 trim last month.

I had it as Coronet 440 but I looked at the 440 in the garage and it only has the top trim (belt molding) which does use the clips like pictured only a different width.
I was thinking it was a 440 model that had the trim the same as a Satellite.
Ultimately what I am looking for is whatever clips would be used to install the belt molding trim on a 65 Satellite.
I pulled out a few different pieces of Satellite trim I have here and two sets used the steel clips while one piece had the plastic clip still in it? I will post pics of those tomorrow.

Please do post pictures as I would like to see them. It took me awhile to gather mine as they break pretty easy. I checked all my sets and didn't find any with metal clips. And I counted 11 per side assuming I had the right holes.

I have a 65 satellite and parted out 2 others

My car had the wire clips , 1 car I parted out had wire clips and 1 car had the plastic clips

My car has been apart since 1989 so I don't remember the quantity needed

Rocker moulding clips.. I have talked to many clip guys and numerous NOS part dealers about these - Most feel they were only available as a set with the mouldings - not as replacements

Talked to Joe Suchy at the nats this year.. He said they may reproduce the rocker molding clips

I did find one of these clips that is different from the rest. It goes directly under the rear roof post at the wide area of the trim.

This is almost enough to make me glad mine is a Bel II.

Interesting. I wonder if the clips were done different by plant? I learned something new today. I also forgot about that big clip at the back. There is a guy on eBay that produces clips for the rocker molding but they are different than the factory ones and require drilling new holes. I think his name is 65Satelliteman on there. He is the one who reproduces the grill emblems also. It would seem you should have less problem finding those metal clips than the plastic ones.

Glad you got it figured out.
Work out all the bugs on yours, then once you know how everything goes back together you can come down and do mine.

So am I hearing something about house calls? So Terry are the 68-70 vinyl top trim clips available aftermarket? I would love to use something more sturdy than 50 year old plastic clips on mine.

After a quick Google search it appears they're available pretty commonly. Herbs, RT specialties, Hoover, Jim's and several others were listed. Being as that you need more than what a regular 68-70 kit has you may find someone who is willing to sell you a "lot" of them. I think the total count needed is 22 or 24. That's what this whole post was about in the beginning.
