I am planning some changes for my header collectors. they are really short TTI collectors and I was planning to lengthen them with some old Hooker collector extensions i have. Couple of questions:
How far back in the collector should the O2 sensor be located?
Do you prefer to run two O2 sensors or just one?
Which type of O2 sensor works the best?
thanks
Jerry

Went with a wide band "Innovate". Rt side only. Pic shows mounting. I don't run with complete exhaust, but I do with 10" extensions. Works good.

OK any other thoughts on this O2 location. Do you want it close to the header tubes where they merge or does it need to be so many inches away from the merge point.
Hey Inquiring minds want to know.

If you run open exhaust, it should be mounted at least 18" upstream from the open end so reversion doesn't draw outside air across the sensor and give you a false lean. This is handy because most collector extensions wind up being ideal at about 18".

Other than that, anywhere you can get it to fit past the merge is good. Make sure it is clocked between 10 and 2 o'clock so moisture can't collect in it and if you run a pan evac, the sensor needs to be upstream from that so it doesn't give a false lean.

I was told to mount em at least 8-10 inches past the collector to get an "average" reading..............

With full exhaust I put mine about 6" past the header. I didn't want to change the header so I put it in the head pipe. I have had good luck with this setup.

If your 4" or more back from the end of the primaries
its fine.. stay away from the end of the collectors
by about 10" if you can... low speed rpm COULD get a
lean reversion and give a stupid lean reading.. keep
the o2 forward of any e-vac or anything else... keep
the o2 above the center line of the collector or angle
the tip of the o2 downward so it can drain any moisture
