Should a 71 Charger RT 440 have an H pipe?

I've owned a 71 R/T and two 71 GTX's that were pretty dang original an neither had an H-pipe. 71 parts does not list an H pipe.
It may have been a plant thing. The OP's RT is a Sept '70 built car at Lynch Rd and no H-pipe. My TX9 St.Louis built car had the original H-pipe with clearance flats and all.
AZNick's survivor LA built '71 GTX also still had the original H-pipe. I'll see if I can find the old post with lots of good info.

Can't give you documentation just facts of one car. My buddy was second owner of a 71 R/T 440 6pack auto with 4.10 Dana. He bought it from original owner in 79 and I remember removing the original H-Pipe because another friend drove by while we were doing it and grabbed up that H-pipe we put by the garbage pails!! Ron

I know of Nick's car. I put a dash pad in it while at Vegas. It was a 4-spd car. All mine were autos and I think St. Louis cars.

GTX that I own now. LA built 911 SPD
Interesting, I owned a LA built Satellite (base 318 RH car) with the same SPD, VIN ended in 105380. Sorry, no H-pipe
