I've always wondered why they did away the H pipe in 70. My 69 Charger R/T had a factory H-pipe.

Roger, yes and no... Depends on the SPD of the car and the plant. Both of my '71 GTXs still have/had the original H-pipe. My '71 RT 4-spd that I had was coded for regular headpipes. The BCS will tell you if it had an H-pipe or not.

1971 Charger RT that I used to own. No H-pipe (two separate part #'s for the headpipes, 503 SPD).

1971 GTX that I used to own. I'll see if Dan P can pop in with his records. Lots of sheets with RTs and GTXs with H-pipes.

I've owned a 71 R/T and two 71 GTX's that were pretty dang original an neither had an H-pipe.
71 parts does not list an H pipe.

It may have been a plant thing. The OP's RT is a Sept '70 built car at Lynch Rd and no H-pipe. My TX9 St.Louis built car had the original H-pipe with clearance flats and all.

AZNick's survivor LA built '71 GTX also still had the original H-pipe. I'll see if I can find the old post with lots of good info.

Can't give you documentation just facts of one car.
My buddy was second owner of a 71 R/T 440 6pack auto with 4.10 Dana. He bought it from original owner in 79 and I remember removing the original H-Pipe because another friend drove by while we were doing it and grabbed up that H-pipe we put by the garbage pails!!

I know of Nick's car. I put a dash pad in it while at Vegas. It was a 4-spd car. All mine were autos and I think St. Louis cars.

Interesting, I owned a LA built Satellite (base 318 RH car) with the same SPD, VIN ended in 105380. Sorry, no H-pipe

Seller is claiming this car to be 100% concourse. Based on the exhaust info here I'd say he's wrong.

That is a really sweet car but there are a few things that are not "correct".
