Can anyone give me an idea where the retaining clips mount? I assume I have to remove the trim. Maybe a measurement from the bolt hole? thank you

Do you think they are the same on the '70 Cuda? Give me a few minutes and I will take a tape measure out the car. Mine are original.

The battery in my camera is dead so I am charging it. The starting point I will use is the where the windshield trim meets the windshield itself.

I said mine is original but I do not know for certain. I am restoring the car now and only had it for two years. I have not run into any customization as yet so I suspect the placement is correct.

Getting another camera now and can have some photos in the next few minutes.

Here is the best i could do with my phone. This is the driver's side. I started where the trim meets the windshield and measured back. When my camera is charged I can take some better photos.

Here is top to bottom. These are probably not worth much to you since the trim is installed and the photo looks like I accidentally slipped the tape measure up 1/8" on the forward clip.

This is the best I can do for now.

Glad to help. Good luck!

If it comes down to the wire, let me know and I can pull the trim and measure a little more accurately.

Thanks again. I will let you know how it works out. Then we will both know if Cuda and Challenger are the same.

The holes for them have a pretty distinct countersink around them. You should be able to feel them through the headliner material.
Once you find them, you can use a sewing needle to
poke through and verify the holes; that way you're not making a nasty hole if you should incorrectly locate them.

I went thru the same thought process when I instaaled shoulder harnesses in my 70 Challenger,,,car was built and sold new without them. As I remember, the clips were close to a hundred bucks, and was somewhat uncertain where to mount them and did not wish to mess up my headliner.

Then i had a flash of rare insight

Don't put the clips in at all. Instead buckle the passenger hanging belt to the floor mounted belt and cinch it firmly. This way not flopping about while driving the car and yet if to carry passenger, was just as convenient as clips.

And of course while driving, the driver belt was cinched about me so no concern there.

Could not be more happy with outcome.
