I have a 5 gallon fuel cell that came with -8 AN fittings in it. At what point does it become necessary to run a -10 AN?

Probally around 1000 hp total using power adders or on straight motor, but I don't really know as all of my junk makes less than that and I use a single # 10 to my 300 GPH pump, which is suppose to be good to 900 hp two number eights with the right system should be good to 1000HP + I would think, maybe not Try calling a couple of the companys that make good fuel system parts and ask them

I would say it depends on what system you plan on running. on a deadhead regulator I run 8 from the tank to the reg then 6 to the carb. this has worked on 600hp with no problems.

I run a pair of #8s to a pair of the 150 Holley
black pumps then to a Y then a #10 forward to the regulator then
a #8 to the carb , a #8 return line. This winter
I
will change the #8 to the carb to a pair of #8s to
the carb

BG 280 pump with internal bypass, then to a filter with stainless mesh. This is a small block duster that for now will only run mid to low 7's in the 1/8 mile. Fastest it will probably ever go will be 6.00 in 1/8 th.

a holley blue pump deadheaded with #6 would handle that. you are way on over kill.

So in the future a -8 line from cell with BG 280 pump and -8 all the way to regulator at carb then -8 from regulator to carb would support a say 440 to 500 cube motor running 6.00 in the 1/8 th.

Guess I will be fine with mine then because it will be a long long long time before I see those HP numbers in my car. The reason I got such a big pump was I got a heck of a deal on it from a member here.

Single 1/2" aluminum hard line to a single holley blue pump with two -6 lines from the deadhead regulator to the carb works fine for us!

Runs 9.50's at 144 mph and 6.0's in the 1/8 mile.

Pulls hard all the way through the quarter.

Everyone will tell you you need more pump, but this seems to work...

B-1 Ken used to do the same with a single holley Blue pump...

Cheers,

Arnie

when Bob Glidden won Pro Stock in his Plymouth Arrow (1978?) he used 2 blue Holley pumps on his car.

When bob Glideen won that tital that was the only choice, no black pumps, no decent Mallory or any other brands of electric fuel pumps, if I remember correctly

There are two groups on the fuel pump/system question...
Big and just enough.

I run two #8 lines out of the cell to a Y-block, short pipe (.4" ID) to my fuel pump. Then 1/2" aluminum line up front to the regulator. Then two #8 lines from the regulator to the carb (over kill IMO). Times in the sig.

You can't put in too big of a primary fuel line. I say go with the -10.
