I plan on installing a 6.1 Hemi in a 1969 Charger. I plan to start looking in my local wrecking yards for one. My question is, is one version better than another ( Charger, Jeep etc. )? I mean will one from a particular model work better than another as far as the location of the pulleys and where the power steering, A/C, and alternator are located. I seem to remember a post saying that the 5.7 truck engines worked/fit better in the older cars because of where PS, A/C, and alternator were. Can you switch the pulleys from a 5.7 to a 6.1 ?

All the 6.1's are the same. Except the Jeep SRT8 has different exhaust manifolds which tuck closer to the block.

The front accessories can be swapped from a 5.7 to a 6.1. It has a front cover which can be swapped. The 6.1 mounts the AC compressor and Alternator down low, causing some issues. Pretty easy to overcome from what I have read, plus they look cool mounted down low

I used the AlterK so it was no problem fitting the 6.1 w/ headers in an Abody
