I was wondering when you were going start posting in the projects section.
Robert
I've been putting it off because, quite frankly, I am a little embarrassed by my lack of skills. Especially after seeing some of the work that people like yourself are capable of. My Dad is an outstanding mechanic and I am confident in my mechanical ability because I learned from him. I have been learning as I go on the bodywork. My painting ability will be tested when I refresh the grille, dash, finish panel, and such items. The welding and body paint will have to be sourced out as I wouldn't even know where to begin and don't have the equipment or space to do those. But when he (yes, my car is a he)is finished, I will drive him proudly, even though he won't be perfect.

There are others who lack quite a bit less skill than yourself. So there is nothing to be embarrassed about.

In the "real world" guys tend to be less critical of other guys who lack skills, but tear apart the women who lack the same skills. It has lessened in recent years as more women get involved in the hobby. Growing up I was often the only female at the car shows who wasn't there because their Dad, boyfriend, or husband dragged them there. I'm happy to say it has changed dramatically over the years. I have been quite surprised and pleased that I have not experienced the same criticism here that I did growing up in the car hobby.
Samy, you are young and I have no doubt that you will have a great deal more skill at 43 than I do. I have started reading your build thread and you are doing a great job. Keep up the great work and learn all you can.

Thanks guys!
Right now I am working on refinishing the finish panel and painting some steel wheels. Car was ordered with steel wheels and premium wheel covers. Will post pics when I am finished.

a lot of "perfect" cars never come out of the garage or off the trailers.
Like purple Plymouths of '71 vintage. I have yet to learn body work either. But as soon as I get the facilities to try it, I'm gonna take my time and teach myself. Everyone tells me it just takes patience. (which is BS, because there is a lot of skill in pulling dents...) I don't think anyone here will give you any crap unless you suddenly claim to be the best ever!!
I have witnessed said perfect purple Plymouth being driven and it was a beautiful sight.

You're apparently one of the few. So, with the Core, the 440 won't make it into the 500?

Don't worry about lack of skills. There is only one way to learn. Jump in! If you can get to where you can lay down primer smooth, its a start. Great job so far! Keep on plugging along!

I had big plans for getting a lot done on the car this weekend, but it was so hot and humid that virtually nothing got done. I painted the finish panel, but I'm not happy with the way it turned out so I may redo it. I still need to get some red paint for the "500" Before: After:

Okay who is this.. REALLY? The Coronet Girl I know doesn't have time to do Car work. She is to busy giving me TONS of grief. So if this is really Angie, I salute you. Cool car and will be a gem after you work your tail off making the all the money to finish it. So what are you doing now? This is Labor Day, get out there and get laboring. I wanna see it all up and running and sitting pretty. with a CREAMPUFF behind the wheel. Let's get it on , C. girl. Just don't drive it in the far right lane up north in Amish country. Lots of Horse Hockey on the road. Trust me.
