My 37 (and I guess all of these trucks) has a wood floorboard. I think I'm going to make a metal one to replace it. Has anyone else done this too?

i didn't replace mine with metal in my 42 truck, but i coated both sides of the wood with bedliner.that way it still sits flush with the floor and it's protected better now.

I usually use 1x1" tubbing as a frame work and the place metal over it. works out great and its srtong too.

Ron, that's what I was thinking, do you weld it in or leave it removable?

I usually weld them in but you could just as well make it bolt in like the wood did..
then when you change it over to a mopar you could just modify the piece if you have to Ron...

God advice, thanks Ron, I will just bolt it in for now

For what it's worth, I'd definitely make it bolt in for now. Depending on the engine and transmission you swap in later you may end up having to completely redo it in the future.

The PO of mine had pretty much butchered the firewall and toe board so I was starting from scratch. The set back and height of my engine required a hump. When I did the original mockup on it I was planning on using a 727 and the floor didn't need much of a rise, that changed when I decided to use a 518.

I built my floor and new toe board out of some stainless I had laying around. I originally made it bolt it (I used nutserts and 1/4-20 bolts). As the mockup is pretty complete I eventually did go ahead and weld it in.

There are some pictures of mine in my build thread.
