have a cluster reworked by Bob's Speedo in Michigan. Have isolated my erratic readings to a bad voltage limiter only providing 2 volts. wanting to know which replacement circuit board members have been using. have found 2 that the limiter has been replaced with digital circuits, can anybody tell me the difference and which one in more reliable.

Thanks Moparts and all members

Just me I would get a good used circuit board (if needed) and an electronic VL. I think RT specialties offers one and & I think it is an easy electronic conversion that is easily done by soldering a few resistors etc inside the OE can (I'd Google the instructions)

I built my own to. But, when I was roaming Pull-a-part junk yard I found that the 80's Dodge trucks and vans used an electronic VR. If its got analog gauges it probably has one. I need to find a part number sometime when I got time. I've never seen a circuit board like that before. Here's a pic of a 72 Instrument cluster Rally Gauges. It sure don't look like that one.

that is interesting. seems like the change over is 88.
87 and down seem to be the standard like we have. 88 and up are electronic.

Part # VRC601

little pricey at 33 bucks at rock auto.
or you can pick up the autozone version for 45 with lifetime warranty.

of course I could be wrong and it is just a generic blurb in the description.
Our electronic voltage regulator PC boards are encapsulated in epoxy to deliver improved performance and resistance to failure that may be caused by vibration and corrosion of electrical connections
