I picked up this project in Nevada. It seems that the long time owner decided to get the car restored and as costs kept on adding up, he had the shop reassemble the car as a roller and that is how I picked it up. Original Los Angeles built car with original fender tag and dash tag. All original sheet metal and rust free original California car. Original drivetrain U code, four speed, 3.54 dana with original 15x7 rallyes and 450 spare, p/s, pdb. I will be using the original wood grain on the dash, the interior parts are in very good shape, AM radio, buckets, six way, tick toc tach, tinted glass and light group with the turn signals in the air grabber hood. B5 Blue with black vinyl top and interior and white stripes (V6W) and chrome tips out back. It's really a nice unmolested car. I am hoping that it will be in paint soon.

That's looking sweet. There are a couple of sweet '70's going together in the resto section!

This car is beautiful. I love seeing this car being restored as I'm a little partial to B5 GTX's. That color can look really light or really dark depending on the lighting the pictures are taken in. Mine too is an LA built car, and has the small font tag. I wonder if the stamping was random or was it changed over halfway through production as mine has a SPD of April. Do you plan on putting the stripes back on? I see it is also not coded for chrome tips. Do you know if this car was sold in CA? Yours is coming along much faster than mine, but lately I've been dragging my feet on finishing it. These pics get me fired up to try to finish it up this spring. Great job and keep up the great pics!

Thanks for the positive comments. What I have come up with from past registrations and owners is that the car was a San Jose CA car that moved with the long time owner to Arizona and then to Nevada where I found it. It will be getting the white side stripes and it had exhaust tip brackets so it's getting some nos tips. It also had a six way seat adjuster that I am putting back in. Those are the two things that are not on the tag but were with the car when I got it so they are going back on. I believe they were both on the car from day one. When it comes to the tags, as far as I know the LA plant had two machines that made the tags. One with the smaller font and one with the regular font. Over the years I have seen probably about a 50-50 split with the tags.

GTX- Original California sheet metal was pretty much rust free along with all suspension components. The car must have spent most of it's life in a garage when it was parked.

Engine compartment. All major parts are original to the car. Had to find a carb (4739s) and brake booster.

Interior with all original wood grain, door panels, dash pad, pistol grip and back seat. All other original components were restored. Parts were very nice on this car.

That turned out great. Looks good without the hood stripes.

Roger at the 70 GTX registry has not figured out the missing dash emblem secret yet.
I have a St Louis GTX without the emblem, pretty original unaltered car. Bought the car from a man that owned it since 1974 and it was not there.
***Update: 10/1970 build date.

I have a St Louis GTX without the emblem, pretty original unaltered car. Bought the car from a man that owned it since 1974 and it was not there. My St Louis GTX has it. Someone once ran a 70 Hemi GTX registry I thought and they asked me whether my car had the Plymouth emblem on the hood and the GTX on the dash. My car has both. I thought the guys name was Mike Adams but I can't remember names worth squat. Had a red automatic with tan interior IIRC.

"skinny" font LA ![scope scope](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/custom/scope.gif) & bent "funny" also another California Y14 car w/NO STRIPES ![runaway runaway](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/custom/runaway.gif) must be something in the water out there? ![whistling whistling](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/custom/whistling.gif) 6-way wasn't on '69-'70 b-body tags, no extra holes or brackets required tips should've been there, but I don't have any LA U-code GTX tag info with N95 & N42? AWESOME GTX "biggE"!!

Thanks Dan. I was able to take it out to a few local Cars and Coffee before the weather changed. It runs and drives really nice. Real nice one of my favorite colors So is that one of those rare XTG emblem cars? RR is real nice too, still waiting for my turn for one of those. So now you have the RR you gonna part with the GTX? *Hint *Hint ![whistling whistling](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/custom/whistling.gif)
