I believe another factor is that halfway through the year everyone knew there would not be any 72 Hemis so perhaps a few got really optioned by buyers that knew this was the last kick at the cat. Still though it was hard for people back then to justify loaded New Yorker or maybe bottom line Imperial money on a midsize car. Back then if you paid a lot of money you expected a large luxury car.

It creates a sense of urgency. And sometimes that can get people stirred up to buy something they normally would not buy.
IIRC, A lot of these loaded cars were built after halfway through the model year.

Is that a real R-code sunroof car???
...
Yes. As with most sunroof cars, it's pretty loaded.
Hidden headlights too. I posted the tag.
This one is the automatic.
We have another one in the works that's even cooler...426HEMI, 4spd, 4.10 Dana, factory sunroof, export car, kilometer speedo, EV2/white interior/top, 1 of 1...
That's the NEXT one for Julius to restore after Peter, xx29, finishes the metal work on. I hear/see you have been doing some awesome work saving the original body on that one Peter.
This second sunroof 71HemiCharger is starting a new life after decades of neglect...!

If you were to see the Buildsheet on most of these Hemi Sunroof cars I would bet they were ordered by the dealer for stock & not sold orders. I could see a sales manager or dealer principal stepping up to have a attention getting stock unit. Especially if they were told of the discontinued Hemi for 72.

There's a white hemi super bee with a very questionable fender tag. Ramcharger mentioned that car in this post.
Ramcharger is that the car you remember (and others) as a kid in British Columbia? Does the current owner say the car was from canada? Does the tag show it?
Other hemi 71 sunroof chargers?... Looking at history of them coming to surface, good chance of a dead/crushed one(s) or one(s) still out there. Or at least a Plymouth one.

There is a white 71 Hemi Superbee sunroof car in Illinois too. I didn't see this one get mentioned. It is usually at the Belividere IL show.
Here is a link to an article in Hemmings:

That the white one from Canada with a funky fender tag...

Wow: That's a lot of sunroof Hemi's. I thought the only ones were the Siegal car and the rebody out of Canada.

I haven't seen the fendertag on this white Bee, is it a St.Louis built car? Those had "funky" fendertags with option codes that you normally don't see on Lynch Road or L.A. built cars. Did they add options to this tag/car? Does someone know the car it was rebodied?

Not sure if this is the same car that Runcharger saw in BC Canada. But here is talk of it and picture of the fender tag when you scroll down the page...
