How much lift can you get with B1-MC heads before needing longer valves when using spring cups? I was told they quit making power at .825 lift. True or not. My programs disagree.

Thanks

I had .930 gross lift on the intake side on my 540. It didn't work out too well though. It needed a converter that flashed 6600.

The ones on the 499 are around .900 lift on both sides with 1.7 rockers. They didn't run out until well into the 8000's, if not more. I've seen 9300 and maybe more by mistake.

I don't know if these are MC, PSO, or what. I will try to get some clarification from Adger Smith when the heads get back to him to be freshened up. He built them originally when he built the engine for the Hardesty's.

This will be a 604 with 1.75 in 1.7 ex 55mm roller cam.

We haven't taken out the cam yet so don't know if it is 55. The motor will need a different one as I probably destroyed the one it has (if the motor stays NA Adger has another that is pretty close) - and I really want to put a procharger on the motor and drive it on the street / strip. There are no mounting bosses on the heads though if a side mount procharger needs them.

Mine were pulling fine past .900" lift. Peak was 457cfm on the few flow benches they were on. But mine were also an oval port design. Not the conventional, and what I generally see giant rectangle design everyone seems to love. Old school thinking IMO.

My M/Cs were suppose to flow 465 according to Modern
Cyl Head which did the port work.. I never flowed them
on another bench to verify the numbers(that was the
standard port design)

I know we don't race dynos or flow benches but my junk seemed to run ok. Dyno was 1050, IMO a tad conservative. The car went 10.90 at 161 and change at 2975lbs. That takes some HP to do.

The heads were ported by Mike Duke.

He is a REAL cylinder head guy. Understands there is more to it than make it BIG.

Well have a set at another well known, non Mopar cylinder head shop right now. They think there is even more to be had. Time will tell if that holds true.

Kinda like the Predator deal I am doing now. I have some very smart people helping with the deal. Non Mopar guys of course but they all have very good track records making power in everything from SS and Comp to PS.

What do you do for an intake? How do I get in touch with Mike Duke?

My intake was our of the box except the port opening was modified for the oval port and some minor blending on the carb pad. Here is the phone number I have, you can call and leave a message or text Mike at 317-435-5088. Texting seems to be preferred method. He is a one man deal so be patient. He is located in Indy I believe the shop number is (317) 783-4628 once again LEAVE A MESSAGE.
