And this is supposed to mean what? Crashing due to not lifting is not the answer to anything except more money to repair or replace. This situation can be avoided with common sense. They don't give bonus points for crashing at Sac Raceway and I doubt anywhere else as well??

if you were driving this it's pretty clear what happened by the video. unless you had a stuck throttle and someone steering the car for you. we are glad you are ok but the video doesn't lie. you launched the car pulled right you over corrected to the left never lifted over corrected to the right still not lifting and drove in straight in the wall...

There tells the whole tail. Mike knows what happened. Not like this was his first time down the track. How many here have a 3300lb car that goes teen 60 fts? I'm sure it moves around quite often. Maybe something broke, fluid who knows. I hope it didn't hurt it to bad. I know I'm plenty lucky I haven't done the same thing , Stuff happens quick. Doug

Mike, hope you get it fixed soon. First off, I wasn't in the drivers seat, so I won't comment on the driving. Second, a lot of fresh slicks don't require much if any smoke, which was there on the burnout. So the burnout IMHO was more than enough.

I already bought a parts car Sunday night day after the accident. Car is leaving for the body shop next week. All new paint and body . Will be ready for next season.
Awesome. No one has more to lose than the owner/driver. He decides when to hold em and when to fold em. Second guessing is just dumb.

Are you serious???? Man I never wish that kind of run on anyone but if you ever have one and lose control please come here and tell us how it was trying to recover an out of control car that could have been caused by many things and maybe you had no way to recover it.... I'm sure you have blamed all of the wrecks on every track by the driver so please start up your organization to go out and save all racers from themselves. I'm sure even the pro ranks would welcome your proffessional insight

Ok, I'll bite:
My opinion as someone who has raced for 30 years, and watched drag racing for 40, I have aborted plenty of runs, and never crashed. I've seen this same accident a thousand times, from 12 second bracket cars to 4 second top fuel funny cars. We all have it beat into our heads from the first time we visit the track, that crossing the center line is BAD. Because of this everyone acts as though it's an unbreakable barrier, and limit themselves to half the track to try and save the car from destruction, that darn yellow paint stripe has sent so many cars back into their own lane's wall it's not even funny!
That is a quick, hard leaving car on a sketchy track. I'd guess the driver has had to drive it through the first 100 feet on many occasions, if he had driven it a car width into the other lane, he may have saved it, or he may be paying to fix a chevelle right now, hard to tell from the angle of the video.
Good luck with the repairs, Mike.

AMEN Brother!
You guys are ridiculous. You were not in that drivers seat. You have no idea what was going on, video or not. He has made plenty of 8 sec passes in a small tired car... All it takes is a split second for it to go wrong. It could happen to any of us.

I sure don't see where his wheels are cranked excessively, or cranked at all......this is why these are called accidents.....where many small things just happen to line up perfectly to cause an Accident....
A "perfect" combination of......maybe not lined up just right, track issues that caused the car to move around, maybe car/tire issues.....and I am sure he has driven through this stuff many times.....just this time things didn't work out well.......at the 2 Second point it was out of his hands....

Couldnt see the vid on my end. From all the text I get that Mike tried to drive through it, but could of lifted to save it a few times.
Hindsight is 20/20 could of done this/should of done this. Ive tried to drive through it a couple times myself.
But a stuck throttle is complete different issue. Didnt know that was the case.

Of all the posts, Max was the first to state a stuck throttle. Not sure if he meant Mikes car had a stuck throttle or just using it as a example that doesnt Apply here.
yea for some reason they are trying to defend what is pretty clear.

Some reason?? Yes, as humans we dont like to admit mistakes. Call it Ego.
And for some reason?? We as humans like to point out other peoples mistakes.
I dont know whitch is worse or either is real bad.
But , glad the car is fixable and MikeC lives to race another day.

A whole lot of opinions yet none will help the guy now. Why don't you guys just wish him luck instead of telling him what you would have done if you were ever able to get your car to the track and go as fast as his?
when was the last time you were out? good luck Mike

I already bought a parts car Sunday night day after the accident. Car is leaving for the body shop next week. All new paint and body . Will be ready for next season.
I am glad to hear that you are OK, and that the car will be repaired. Good luck with the rebuild.

This whole situation is hard to take. He did a really weak assed burnout for that much hp which almost guarantees the car will launch badly with wheel spin? Next it's time to lift when You cross the centerline? Waste of a great car. This looks like that Bucky Hess "I ain't lifting" video? Macho is macho but this doesn't need to continue as examples of how to wreck a good Mopar.
What exactly do YOU race and how fast does it go. That might make a difference in understanding the in depth analysis that you provided..........but I am seriously doubting it.
And for all you arm chair driving experts, once the car is in the marbles, for all intents and purposes it doesn't matter what the driver does. The car is going where it is going to go. From watching the video he was NOT sawing on the wheel, the car appears to launch a little right and then washed to the left, got in the marbles and he was just hanging on at that point...............but what do I know. My Vespa ain't very fast...........LOL!!!

I usually agree with you Quicktree......but on this subject, you are WAY out of line. You are trying to watch some sketchy video and differentiate the sounds of two cars on the video and likely cars in the water box as well and make a determination on what a driver may have done wrong. Sorry dude, again you are way out of bounds trying to tell this guy he did something wrong by what you have seen. You were NOT in the car, so in reality you have NO CLUE what happened or what he did to try and save it.
Monte
HOW DARE YOU??? He's obviously the sharpest marble on this site and knows EVERYTHING about EVERYTHING!!! Actually I think this was the first of his posts that I've read that actually contains any analysis and has any relevance! But yes, he has absolutely no idea what happened inside that car. It's so easy for the "PRO" drivers to tell others what they should have done after the fact.

Someday should be this Wednesday then...I feel I could reach your pinnacle by then. As far as learning, does taking the words of others for gospel and repeating them count? As much as i see it Im guessing it does?

Since everyone is feeling compelled to give the owner of this car what he "should have done" advice I thought I would throw in my When the car started to run out of the groove the driver had a split second decision to make. At that exact moment he should have closed his eyes, and silently pondered about what the keyboard jockeys on moparts (many of whom have never even sat in a fast car) would do it in this situation. The guidance on the website would have surely steered him to safety. The owner of the car didn't come on here asking for a driving lesson. I don't know what would be worse for me, wrecking my hot rod, or listening to the know it all's educate me on how to drive a race car with a keyboard.
In God we trust, all others pay cash.

what the keyboard no it all's fail to realize is all they are doing is keeping the smart people from posting/ helping. this in turn will make them never get the knowledge that they could have had.
