Mr P, it's just one of those things I've heard through the years. Limiters are on the bucket list along with "J" bars.

I solid mount my transmissions. no need to add extra weight.

But you run a mid plate. If I did that I would break tail shaft housings.

I would never solid mount in 3 locations.. when the
chassis flexes something has to give.. and the tailshaft
is the weakest point

I would never run a motor plate without a midplate

stock block

Indy block

On the stock block, I had to bush the hole in the block and notch the oil pan for the rod end to clear.

Jamie.. I've seen a few guys that made a bracket that
used 3 of the oil pan bolts and then to the K-member..
I believe they actually used studs(on the side of the pan)

Here's how I did mine.

That is how we did it. Captured 4 ARP pan studs with a home-made bracket and an S&W Racecars kit (chrome-moly tube, rod ends and tabs for K-frame). When we got the car it didn't have one and the trans mount was destroyed. Have this one on the car for the last 5 years and it seems to work great. Studs provide enough strength with no deflection.

My chassis guy built a bracket that bolts to the pan rail. Hard to see the bracket in this pic.
