Installing a 3-bolt MP .557 cam in a street driven 440 car with a chrome timing cover and doubler roller chain.

The cam came along with a Mancini MRE Cam Thrust plate with bolts which has a roller bearing in the center.
Will this work properly in a stock type timing cover? Is this overkill or asking for trouble?

Been a LONG while since I put a cam in a big block and don't recall the need for a cam thrust plate, correct?

thrust plate are used mainly for roller cams If you have it I would use it just for insurance.A hyd cam is made so when it is turning the lobes are angled in a way to make the cam stay in the engine

Thanks for the input! I figured the same, just wanted to double check.
Just spoke to a buddy who runs a machine shop.
He suggested running i because it does no harm and keeps the timing more accurate/consistent.

So looks like I'll be installing it.

Thanks again!
