I have a 70 challenger that i am installing an early b-body rearend that gives me an extra inch of clearance on each side with the drdiff relocation spring mounts. Going to run old school Ansen Sprints that are 15x8.5 with 3.75 back spacing. Wondering if the new mickey thompsom performer s/t 295/50/15 will fit? (without airshocks) Anyone running this size on their Challenger?

Going way back to my N50 x 15 days I believe the gold standard was 4.5" rear space. But even with 4.5" air shocks were required to keep the fender lip from gouging into the sidewall near the tread of an N50. Now a 295 50 25 is not as tall as an N50 but it is still very wide. I will say with the rear space you have you"ll need some lift to keep from damaging your 1/4 panel and tires.

Keep old mopars alive.

I don't have a B-body reared in my E-body however, I did mocked up a 15 x 8.5 with 3.75" back spaced using a 275/60/15 tire. The back spacing places the tire too far out-board and it wasn't even close.

From my experience, even sucking in the rear end an inch on each side (depending on which year b-body you are using) and going with a 295/50, you won't clear the fender. According to BFG a 295/50 on a 9.5" rim has a cross-section (CS) of 12.2". A 275/60 on a 8" rim has a CS of 11".

From what I've seen using the B-body rear-end on an e-body you would be better off with something like a 15 x 10" with a 5" backspace wheel if you wish to use a 295/50/15 size tire. If you are going with those Ansens with the 3.75" bs, you may be able to run a 275/60 but I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn't clear the fender lip either.

Thanks for your input guys, I didnt figure they would fit. The rear im using is out of a 67 charger so it is two inches narrower than the E-body rear. I will probably go with 255/60/15

Back in the day, 70 challenger, b-body housing, offset hangers and 15x10 4-7/8 backspace wheel with an N-50-15 tire. seems like had to roll the quarter lip too. tire sat up in the wheel well, no air shocks etc.

Don't know if they will work with 15X8 with that narrow a backspace.
We have 295/50/15's on our Challenger with 15X10 rims with 4.75 inch backspace. Dr. Diff relocation kit and an early B-body rear end.

I am running 275 60 15 on rear of our Challenger. Stock Dana stock rally's. Tires sit just inside of fender lips. Stance is great with 235 60's on front. 8 1/2 inch rim, I don't know if 275's will be ok even with narrower rear end, but suspect they might. Find a good tire retailer to let you experiment. I have such a local store that will.

I put a set of 295-50-15's on a Cuda. With an early B body diff, springs moved about an inch each side. 15x8 wheels ( sorry don't remember the backspacing)
They don't touch the body or the spring .

Thanks for all the feedback, After reading your replies I am doubtful they will fit, may just have to try it and see. Thinking of going with the Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/T. If they dont fit, just take a loss, sell on CL, and chalk it up as a learning experience.

With those Ansens, they wont fit. that is a lot of tire.

here is a 295/50 on an 8" rim with 4.75" back space. This is the stock E body rear housing.
