First cruise night. I realized 4 things
1. This car was a lot quieter when I needed to wear a helmet
2. This was the farthest it's been away from the trailer in 20 years
3. I was driving in summer time "ice" conditions, not like the track.
4. This is just plain silly on the street!

On the to-do list, get it to run 20-30 deg colder. Seemed to go up to about 200-210, never seen that much heat in it and don't like it. Didn't load up, cruised nice at 2000-2500 RPM. Starts good, no start retard. It cools down quickly once I park and leave the water pump and fan going. All in all a good first night out.

Sat night cruise at Barnes and Noble

Went with a friend Brian, he owns the Chevelle. Very nice car, roots blown EFI pump gas car

Objects in mirrors are closer than they appear

last one....

Once I sort out the quirks this is going to be fun

Jim

That's really cool! Next Saturday will be my first cruise in the Duster. I've got all the lights, turn signals, etc working. Like you I have exhaust on it now and can't believe how quiet it is.

My concerns:
I run alcohol and am wondering what kind of "mileage" I'll get, and whether I'm going to wash a lot of fuel into the oil.

Am I going to smack my head on the roll cage and give myself a concussion? (I did buy some padding that I will install)

Your pics are great, I hope I can get some of mine next weekend.

Thanks, they are ET-Streets. Same ones I had on the car when I raced it... I'm too cheap to buy new ones

Aweome Mark, just be easy easy o the loud peddle. Have fun with it. I got sick of seeing it sit there.

It looks like a used around 2-3 gallons of gas on a 30 mile trip. Not an economy car, glad I kept my foot out of it LOL

Is that a bias ply tire? I ran MT Sportsman Pros on the street that were bias and I hated them. One of the best things I did for making it better for the street was getting a radial tire for it (MT Sportsman S/Rs) I run a 31x18.5x15 on the back of my Demon. Great idea converting that car over for the street. You'll have more fun with it than just having it for track only IMO.

Nice job, looks like it drives pretty good on the street.

Regarding the cooling, you might look into converting to E85 if it's available in your area. Would certainly help it run cooler and possibly add a little power.

Thanks. If we had e-85 around here I might have tried that instead of dropping compression 4 points. I'm good with 93 pump, the motor makes good power with it I just need to increase cooling capacity. The idle/low rpm oil pressure drops quite a bit with a lot of heat. Goes right up as soon as you hit the gas but I'd still like to see it run cooler.

Sweet.....

Whatcha' running for a waterpump, rad and fans??? My stuff runs nice and cool with Meziere pumps, dual 13" Spal fans w/full shroud on both cars and a Ron Davis 2 row 1.250 tube in the W8 car and a Griffin 2 row 1.5 tube in the HEMI.

I keep the grille blocks off on the street (obviously) and run water with some Purple Ice and 160* stats. Even in 90* temps after 15+ miles, the small block never goes over 180* and the blower car stays right around 190*.

And I always leave the laundry on in case the brakes fail.

I actually put 50/50 antifreeze in it for the first time. I have a Meziere pump and a 2 row Alum Becool radiator. I have dual fans with a small shroud built in. My fist will be a better fan with a shroud that covers the whole radiator.

Love the wing on your Dart, who built it?

My 605 runs 170 to 210 on the street with the MP fiscous fan, no shroud, aluminum radiator, and stock pulleys. One thing to remember driving it on the street, you start 'playing' it will try and kill you from time to time. One tire will bite and it will send you into the next lane in the blink of an eye. Don't get me wrong that much hp on the street is about as much fun as you can have and keep your cloths on. Dave
