The carb linkage on our tunnel ram is the AED universal kit. It has a lever of anodized aluminium with I believe a threaded hole in it. The throttle cable is a standard Mopar cable with the small clevis on it. The jaws of the clevis are much closer together than the thickness of the AED lever, as the cable is meant to attach directly to the typical steel linkage on the side of a single carb. Any ideas on how to connect the two? I am thinking just bend up some thin stainless in sort of a Z and attaching one end to the lever and the other end which will now be narrow to the throttle cable. I have already adapted my original cable anchor point so good there as far as I can tell.

Best, Dave

Before that, measure the distance between idle and full throttle at the linkage and at the pedal cable. If your cable has more than enough travel, you can do a simple adapter, making sure it can't hang open. If the cable throw is shorter, you are going to need to build something that will pivot and allow the shorter cable throw to operate the linkage fully (unless you don't want full throttle!)

Thanks guys,

The photos help a lot. I realized when I looked at it again that I was overthinking it. I will just use a fastener from the side as shown and hook the return spring into the space between the jaws. I will put the screw in with blue or purple loctite or a locknut as I will not want to tighten it too much against the jaws or they will bind, they need to be able to pivot. If this is a bad idea please let me know. Here are some photos below. I will have to change the angle of the bracket piece as I made it to fit the old Performer RPM manifold but that is just a matter of rotating, drilling, and tapping a little bit of aluminium. The engine is obviously not in the car yet but trying to anticipate.

Oh, I will definitely be checking for full throttle.

General layout, carbs are sideways mounted Ultra HP 600's

Closeup of bracket and lever as is. The lever is on a spline so I can change that as needed and there are two attachment locations so that is one way to address any cable travel issues I suppose:

Okay, this is where I ended up this evening. Realizing the lever for the cable is on the inside, towards the manifold. It just lightly touches the screw for the linkage that is going up when at idle. As soon as I move it the pieces clear. I notice that ARI and Hemi-itis both have the cable lever on the outside. Anything jumping out for anyone?

Throttle closed:

Full throttle, not sure I like the way the return spring looks, might need to search the bins at the hardware store:

I would put some one to step on the gas pedel to see if you get full throttle

you might need to readjust ,not the same as you pulling open the throttle

as long as the throttle bracket to cable don't interfere your good

to me the cable is short and the link is long and bottems out on the manifold

but you need some one to press on the throttle first
