Don't feel to bad yet. My Friend tried one on his 8 second B1 barracuda and it went back 3 times before he sold it and went back to his 1150 dom. He said he would give me one heck of a deal. I declined. He never could get it run as good as the 1150 but he sure tried.

There have been many varients of the single big hole carbs, all the way from the early Kendixs to the current SV1, none of them have proven to be better than the good old reliable four barrel carbs. Stop messing with success Step up into the future and go with EFI
Your a funny guy....I have had efi Mopars since the 90's.....Its just not legal in Nostalgia Mod/Gas...Yet. I like efi, but it comes with some of its own gremlins. The bug catcher FAST efi system for my Hemi was state of the art back then, and still is today. I recently sold the Classic box to go to XFI if it becomes legal or this carb doesn't work out. So I keep my options open. Also just sold my other vehicle with FAST EZ-efi...
I have one of his 1000cfm 4150's as well, and it has taken some tuning to get it, but its pretty close now. So I just want to see if one of these SV1's will work on my combo.

We are running a new alcohol SV1 this season. Patrick spec'd an 1180 cfm version for us and the only changes we have made is that we dropped jets from 170f and 200r to 160f and 190r and the car seemed to like it as it picked up 2 mph. I think its a pretty nice setup and seems to be fairly easy to tune on. I am sure the next question will be how much did we pick up with the carb and the answer is I really dont know because we also backhalved the car and took weight out of it so I don't know exactly how much the carb itself picked us up but we are running .03 faster and as we figure out what the chassis likes and how much or how little timing the engine likes on alcohol I think we will find more. I can say once we made some chassis adjustments on Sunday the car clicked off (3) 9.16 passes in a row so we are gaining on it.

Looks like it is very consistant for you now. How do you like the "hit"? Do you leave off a two step, and if so what rpm?
I am hoping mine comes in with it being able to idle well. If I can get it to idle, I can probably tune my way thru the rest if it is off, but from what I have read, they are hit and miss...The guy I bought it from went from 9.77 best to consistant 9.50's so I would love to see the same gain on my 9.81 pump gas combo...
I leave off the 2 step at 3000. It is very crisp on the throttle and idles decent. We are running a very LARGE flat tappet cam so I dont get the idle quality that some do. I am idling at 1200-1300 in gear and have the corner screw out 2.5 turns.
It's not a flux capacitor. It's a well thought out nicely designed 2 circuit carb with a single barrel. Some love it, some like it and some hate it. I am between like and love at the moment. I have never compared it to a Dominator on my combo since we jumped head first into it from our gas 1040cfm 4150 also built by Prosystems.

A large throttle blade is like a switch. Once it uncovers a certain amount of the area of the bore, you will need LOTS of fuel, very quick, to cover the huge gulp of air it is getting ready to take. Air speed is very low here, PLUS, the carb has no boosters........so how does it get fuel. The answer is that you have to meter it early, which generally makes these carbs extremely rich down low. They pretty much have to be, to cover the transition when you stick your foot in it.
Guys talk about the throttle response is great. Well, if you are just revving it or have a very loose converter, it might be, but common sense tells you part throttle on these is about impossible to manage. No way a carb can react THAT quick to such huge swings in air volume when you are moving that big blade.
I tune a bunch of small tire cars with tight converters. The biggest complaint with these carbs is it won't get on the chip when you smack it. Then when you DO get enough fuel in it early to make it get on the chip, it is extremely rich when you cut it loose.
Guys like Dave Braswell, Dale Cubic, Jack Book and several others are some of the best and most innovative minds in the carb world. They all make stuff that WORKS. They all tell me the same thing........This has been tried before and you see where we are, so form your own conclusions

I am not seeing any of the issues you are stating above? I quess in my case which is an 800 horse drag car with a loose converter (which alot of guys run) they must be a pretty good setup.
I'm not a carb guru and dont claim to know how it all works but it does work pretty damn good on my set up.

Not really. They were dead rich down low. The car left chugging black smoke and the 60fts were horrible. If the car had 60 footed even respectable numbers, he would have run easy .40s.
