The motor in my friends '95 Dakota went South last week. Just need to know what vehicles he can get a 5.2 from that will be "drop-in." It's a 4X4 if that makes a difference...

Thanks in advance!

You will have to use either a 94 or 95 Dakota 5.2 for absolute drop in. Earlier engines will have return style fuel rail and bigger exhaust manifold outlets. Later engines do not have EGR so the intake and right exhaust manifold will have to be changed. Engines from a van, Jeep, or full-size truck will need the oil pan changed to clear the front axle on your Dakota.

Thank you very much. Exactly what I needed to know. I'm pretty sure he isn't going to want to change intakes, computers, etc. I guess a good deal on a later model, low mileage motor might change his mind. Again, thanks!
