I suppose they would heat the oil in the pan too.
Eight tubes riding down there in a street car can cause all kinda temp related issues...
I can tell you all about trans pan gaskets that spend time between two header collector's...
For hours upon hours...
In extreme heat...
Whole different world than a car ridin' down the 1320...

Schumacher Creative Industries sells a wonderful smallblock header- but they are very expensive.
Keep old mopars alive.

Back when I wanted to get my GTX back on the road I cut out the beat Hookers and tossed in a cheap set of the Summit house brand.
440 in a b-body but I was impressed, they hit nothing and fit perfect.
Go figure.
As an A-body owner they have always been a bear when it came to headers.

I hear you. Do you remember the part # on the TTI?
The headers I used on the 74 Duster were the 1 5/8" versions. They had one set that also had 3 pipes with the 4th put in around the torsion bar. The ones I had were different with all 4 pipes in one. The Charger has 2" TTI pipes that are listed to fit 67-76 A as well as 66-70 B and all E body cars. Sorry I do not have the part numbers.

Free junk is still junk. I'm a manifold guy (but would pass on the expensive extrude honing because it actually does very little) but if I was going to use headers I would buck up and buy a decent set. Smashing headers in a bunch of locations and still having the pipes way to close to the oil pan and other elements isn't my idea of a great install. Dave

By eyeballing the enginebay and the shorties I think I have a much easier time installing these then a set of full length headers.

When the time comes let us know how they fit & what brand are they
Well, as a late update to the Shorties above... I sold them again, because centerdump headers don't work for me as the main tubes are then supposed to go under the steeringlinkage. This leaves them prone to being hit by everything higher then a pebble on the street on my lowstance Dart.
Properly designed shorties would need to exit between the last two cylinders, just like a regular castiron manifold would exit, only slightly lower.
