How do you identify original 440 Six Pack stamped steel rocker arms? I have the set that came in my 6 pack Roadrunner engine when I bought it in '75. They are supposed to be "thicker" and "heavier duty" than the standard rockers, but I have been unable to find any details of their dimensions or identifying stampings.
Anyone have info as to how to identify these?

I think you'll find that the thicker rocker arms were strictly aftermarket (Mopar Performance) and they were thicker only in the pushrod socket area.
The '69-'71 factory parts manual shows only one P/N for 440 rockers.

What are the markings on them? One way to tell is they have a smaller more rounded hole for the rocker shaft than the lighter weight rockers. My old ones have stampings in them starting with prefixes like 1E and 2E with 2-3 digit numbers following. For example, 1E49, 2E306, 1E306, 1E309,etc. I don't know what the stamped markings mean but they are original A12. The numbers are not generally consistant and all over the place. The regular 1969 383/440 rockers have more of an egg shaped hole where they fit over the rocker shaft. One thing incorrect about the list above, A12's did not come with a 3 bolt nylon timing gear. I've had two low mileage originals and all the cams were one bolt with nylon gears. The 3 bolt was standard for the 1969 Hemi with a double roller timing chain and the double roller apparently was also standard on 70/71 440-6's but not 1969 440-4 or 440-6 packs.

I see what you mean about the very round hole for the shaft. Mine look like that.
Mine, though, all have stampings that begin with 1E. The right rockers are marked 1E310, except for one, which is marked 1E314. The left rockers have 1 marked 1E195, 2 marked 1E196, and 5 marked 1E197. Anyone know if standard arms have similar markings?
I miked the thickness of the metal just above the rocker shaft hole at 0.140". I have a vague memory of comparing these to 383 arms many years ago and finding they were thicker; I'll have to dig up a set and check again.
I pulled out the 69 and 70 parts books, and 69 has one left and one right part number for all 383 and 440. 70 has those same part numbers, except there are two, new for 1970, numbers for the 440 3-2 bbl rockers. The D.C. manuals, however, state that all Six Pack engines, 69-71, had the heavy duty rockers.

You are not going to find the 6bbl parts listed in the 69 parts manual , there is a supplement on pink pages for the 69 parts manual , that is where you will find the parts numbers for the A12 engines.

Fastmark is correct, singlebolt cam on 69-1/2. Bought one new and changed the cam myself, (SSH-25), still running one of those cams on our 70 and love it.
Joe
PS 62maxwgn, thought I remember shot peened rods too?

PS 62maxwgn, thought I remember shot peened rods too? That SSH-25 is a great cam. I've read that one of the DC Purple Shaft cams was patterned after the SSH-25 but something got lost in the translation. Same way with the SSH-44.

PS 62maxwgn, thought I remember shot peened rods too? The 69-1/2 rods have a separate part number because they were shot peeled. They look identical to the 4 barrel rod. They had a unique paint mark applied to them when new.

Looking at the TSB I must have confused the crank shot peening with the rods. I knew the rods had “100%” somethin’ done to them. I have an original set still.
