Hello All...3:30PM ET I just got off the phone with Ray Barton and he was kind enough to reach out to Chrysler (MOPAR) to see if the HEMI Challenge events at the 2009 U.S. Nationals at INDY as well as the SportsNationals at Columbus is still on being sponsored by MOPAR. Ray Barton has confirmed that YES MOPAR IS STILL PLANNING TO SPONSOR BOTH THE HEMI Challenge events at the 2009 U.S. Nationals at INDY as well as the SportsNationals at Columbus. P.S. Can I please ask any/all SS/AH racers/owners to e-mail me hemicud@yahoo.com their contact information name, phone & e-mail as I would like to compile a contact database for all of us. Best Regards, Don Bales 8122167498 cell

they said they were going to sponsor the bg race also, I would believe nothing that came from their mouths. If this this is to survive, we will do it on our own, as the racers. If indy and columbus pay, than that is a bonus. I am not counting on it at this time. I talked to Bales this afternoon, and feel that this should be an easy deal to replace the BG race. I am thinking about the CC event at 131 dragway in july. I am willing to put up 1000.00 cash, non contingent, to go into the pot. Not because I plan to win, but because I think they are good events, Charlie B. Is a good guy, and I know he would love to have us there. We wont be filler material at his events. Lets see some of the other people that benefit from these cars put up a little $$$, and have our own race. cw

Moprod's post says it all. This is the best class for competition and for fan viewing and I agree with CWJ. The racers will have to carry the load while Mopar fries it's bigger fish to survive. I understand business first. Thanks to Don for creating an A car DBS and I will do what I can to help. July CC race works for me and I can probably find a few grand from some vendors.

I talked to Charlie B this morning, he is up for whatever we want to do. What we talked about was this. An event at the july Martin Mi. event, sponsors lined up by whoever can get them. The sponsors will be included in event promotions. To do this we need to finalize the sponsors in the next 2 weeks. Money that will be sponsored needs to be payed in advance to get you on the event promotions. This keeps people from saying " I will pay the winner 500.00, but if racer X wins I wont pay" which has happened in the past. If you get in after the 2 week deadline, than you are still welcome, you just wont be able to be placed in the printed matter relating to the race. I have pledged $1000.00, I have a verbal from a couple others. The big announcement is that JESEL valvetrain, will post $5000.00!!! This will come partly in contingencies, and the rest will go in the pot. Anyone interested in helping the cause, Email me your info, and I will get back with you. You can also contact Don Bales if you choose, since some people choose not to converse with me, and I dont want egos, or personal issues to interfere with the quality of the race. later cw

Baughman auto is in for $500.00
I think this deal shows how strong this group of racers is, MP has no idea. If we had events like this, we wouldnt even need to go get 5 grade points to go to indy (which end up costing 10K by the time you figure it out). These smaller events are a blast, and the people are there to watch mopars, not top fuel. It is a captive audience, you can sell T-shirts, etc without thinking that NHRA is going to put you in jail. We have plenty enough money now so we can get a good tech official for fuel check, and teardown. I will check into that. (yes I will pay them off so I can cheat)

I contacted Travis Miller about our event, he said he will be glad to attend. He actually had another engagement that he cancelled to be with us. Fuel check and full tear-down will occur. cw

I think the Hemi Shootouts are popular enough to run a small circuit. The closest race to Texas was Bellrose, which was 500 miles from Dallas. It looks like most of the guys are in the north or Cow-Lee-Forn-Ya. If were to take off, their might be two or three circuits to cover the country. I'd like to see a SS/BA class added for the side show, or B down to E for the other Hemi classes. That would add car count, especially down here. The Teutons and Spyfish could be half the field in the Chitlin circuit in the south.

Hey CWJ, if I pay more can I cheat more? Ha! After my 1st run in Dallas points deal (#2 Q), David Rehr (I traveled in their rig) took a picture of the Spyphish passenger seat with a NOS bottle in it. That photo is out there somewhere. When I win Miss America it will show up..........

I got a call from Randy Warford this morning, Mel is recovering at home from what was thought to be simple hernia surgery. 2 hrs turned into 10 day in the hospital, and 2 months at home. Keep them in your thoughts. Randy volenteered $500.00 to the pot, and said they will not be there for the obvious reasons. I have talked with all the big sponsors of this event, with Charlie B. and Don bales. We decide that the checks will go to me. I plan to open a seperate acct. and when the race happens we will have a balance, divide it up at the conclusion of the event, and leave the event with a zero balance. We will pay Travis out of this acct. I will pay any fees related to the acct, and I am also going to take care of the design of the flyer, and the printing. I dont feel that this should come out of the acct. because I dont think you should pay to sponsor the event, and pay to advertise it. It should be minimal, and I have a few connections in that area to disperse them in parts stores, etc. If you want to get on the flyer, we will have a cut off date, proably in a couple weeks, for the funds to be in the acct. If you dont want to send me the money, than you wont be on the flyers. This is going to be a very simple deal. The money will total X, we will pay everyone at the track, and we will go home. No waiting for 50 checks in the mail. If you want to have a contingency award, thats great. What I am handling is the purse that will be payed at the event, the real money. I expect to have around 13K, maybe more based on participation of additional sponsors, and entry fees. I feel that 150.00 entry is fair, if people want to make it more, and make the purse bigger, I am fine with that. My payout model is based on 16 cars at 150.00
JET $1000.00 JESEL 5000.00 HOLT 2500.00 (THEY THINK THEY WANT TO SPLIT THEIRS BETWEEN THE 2 RACES) BAUGHMAN AUTO 500.00 WARFORD 500.00 BUCKY 500.00 MR2 300.00
ENTRYS 2400.00
TOTAL 12700.00 AT THIS TIME
WINNER 55% 6985.00 R/U 25% 3175.00 SEMI 20% 762.00 EA. 1/4'S 8% 254.00 EA.
HOPEFULLY WE CAN GET SOME MORE, JESEL MAY ALTER THEIRS SLIGHTLY BECAUSE THEY SAID IT WILL BE PARTLY CONTINGENT. THIS IS JUST AN EXAMPLE OF WHATS GOING TO HAPPEN. NOWHERE IS THERE A LINE WHEN CW IS GOING TO KEEP ANY OF IT, I FEEL THAT LIKE ME OR NOT, I HAVE A GOOD REPUTATION WITH PEOPLES MONEY, AND TO TURN IT OVER TO AN ACCT. ETC IS JUST ANOTHER PERSON IN THE FOOD CHAIN TO COMPLICATE IT. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHO IS COMING SO WE CAN PUT YOUR NAMES ON THE FLYER, YOU CAN ANNOUNCE IT ON HERE, OR EMAIL ME. I WILL POST THE FLYER BEFORE WE PRINT IT. ANY QUESTIONS CALL ME. 517 531 3430 I HAVE ALSO CONTACTED SOME PRINT MEDIA GUYS FROM THE MAINSTREAM WORLD, AND WILL TRY TO GET SOME ADDITIONAL COVERAGE OTHER THAN MOPAR COLLECTORS GUIDE THAT NEGLECTED TO EVEN PUT A PICTURE IN FROM THE 08 NORWALK EVENT. I AM SURE PAUL WILSON WILL DO A FINE JOB THIS YEAR WITH THE EVENT. TO SAY ONCE AGAIN, THIS IS A 100% PAYBACK EVENT, WITH NO ADMIN. FEES, NO BS, JUST $$$$ TO THE RACERS. I AM TRYING TO KEEP IT SIMPLE, AND IF SOMEONE ELSE WANTS TO HANDLE IT FOR NORWALK, THATS FINE. I WILL BE GLAD TO CONTINUE TO WORK WITH CHARLIE B. AND CC EVENTS FROM NOW ON THOUGH.
