Can a high quality, reliable, "Cruiser" type 426 based Street Hemi be built with parts currently available for $20K or less ?

Assuming all new parts, professionally built, stock appearing with dual carburetors and factory style exhaust manifolds, etc...

Yes: But with an aluminum block and aluminum heads. The iron blocks are not currently available and didn't look right anyway.

I agree, iron blocks aren't available new from Mopar, but there are plenty of them for sale on the market (ebay etc.), not cheap though.

I know where you can get a new iron block Hemi that is not from any of the usual places, but I don't think I might recommend him. Having said that, I have around $20,000 in my all Aluminum 528 engine from him. I added things that were extra, like hyd roller can ect. that ran the price up some.

Well, it's 600 plus horses. But I said that I wanted a street cam behavior, and stock looks.

What is the general opinion of the Hemi engines available from Indy Cylinder Head ?

They show the "426 Legend" with two Edelbrock carbs for $15,575...

The HP Aluminum block IMO looks more stock than the iron World block, that's what I would build these days.
I wouldn't spend a nickel at Indy, maybe just call them and pretend you have a problem with one of their parts, their reaction should give you an idea if you should spend $15k or more there or not.

Why ??? What I saw at PRI a couple years ago looked very promising .

Just do what the other donkey's do , find someone selling a complete engine , zero miles and ready to install and offer 10% of the asking price .

You could get a really nice Gen III, and probably the car it's in too.
