In 1978 the 9-1/4 in my 69 Furry III 4-door with 383 2-bbl let loose and that was the end of that car. I have never been impressed with the 9-1/4, would rather have an 8-3/4.


The funny thing about science is that if you change one miniscule parameter you change the entire outcome to the way you want it.

i think the nhra rules say all c-clip axles must be altered to make them safe----and as far as strength yes the 9.25 is strong---but pinion placement is more important than ring size----thats why stock 8.75 is stronger than a stock 9 inch----the 9 inch pinion is at the worst spot at the bottom of the ring gear----the strongest position is near the center...
