In this day and age of aftermarket cable shifters I don't see a reason why you couldn't adapt one to do what you need. Biggest issue will probably be getting the ratio correct. I don't see how you will be able to use the factory cable itself, but by replacing it with an aftermarket cable everything else from an aftermarket kit will bolt on the trans and function the same. Talk to any of your buddies you run GM or Ford. If they installed an aftermarket shifter in something they have the pieces you need left over in their box of parts. Then just buy a cable. Its all in how bad you want to do it. ...FAFO...
