First....Tom is being released from the hospital this morning with a fractured shoulder and some cuts and bruises....thank God.

Spoke with him yesterday and he seemed to be in good spirits.

From what I hear this was a horrific wreck at the top end the car suddenly turned into the wall....went across track hit the other wall and then barrel rolled numerous times landing upside down.

With the new 632 Big Chief it has run 175+ on a 9.90 Index.....

This was at the NHRA division 2 race at Orlando yesterday.

Even though it's not mine anymore it still makes me cringe to look at the photo.

The car is a total loss......

Wow thats ugly. Glad to hear he's doing well. Those roadsters are extremely unforgiving when they get loose.

Al it was 1st rnd and his opponent went red.....I'm sure he ran it out to see where it was at and that would be at least 175....someone said they think it broke a suspension piece....doubt if they'll ever know for sure...?????

Just happy he's okay....Tom's one hell of a racer and great guy....that car was built solid and did it's job to keep him safe....a friend said it was one of the nastiest wrecks he'd ever seen.

I was supposed to go and spectate, but now glad I didn't.

I heard from one of the track workers that the wishbone broke. Also that Tom hit the car in other lane also, don't know bad that car was.

Rick Hoard's comp car also burnt on the top end, he was running in top sportsman with it.

Thanks for the info.....the wishbone makes sense....I had heard that he almost hit the car in the other lane...??? If he did I'm glad that driver didn't get hurt as well....and sorry to hear about Rick's car also.

I'm sure I'll get some info from Tom once he heals up....he was headed home and then straight to surgery for his shoulder...

not sure who it was. It was a silver 67-8 Camaro with I believe burgandy stripes. I believe it was one of the AZ fastest street car guys.

Rick, That really sucks to see and hear. Broken wishbone makes some sense but I kinda fell like you that you may never know. Wishbone could have broken from the impact.

I'd have to agree Al....it's built about as stout as you can get, but that 632 Big Chief is putting some major stress on parts also I'm sure....myself I think it was a mistake to go with that kind of power.....but most racers enjoy being the fastest.....?????

Yes they are and I've never bought into that myth....but if the tube broke....I may have to rethink that logic...??????
