I was thinking as I put a trans blanket on my car last September before I went back to the track and it was getting cooler out. But with summer coming soon I was wondering if it will cause the trans temp to rise to much driving on the street all the time as I do alot of street driving ? I have never had no problems and it was in the 70's last year when I drove the 45 mile trip to the track. So I was curious if anyone else has a trans blanket on their street car and if it affected the trans temp any ? Thanks , Ron

Ron, I put a RCI tranny blanket(it did cover the tranny only, not the bell housing and flexplate) on my Duster, I don't think it made 20F differecence in the trans temp on the street I might have seen 160 F before the blanket and between 185 to 200 with it here in central Oregon in 95 F outside air temps.doing the slow street car cruises I didn't have a very big tranny cooler on it either, deep Mopar brand steel pan. That was with both the Continental 10 inch street and strip converter and the T/A race 8 inch converter I did have a Cyberdyne digital tranny temp gauge on that car, I never did get it hot foot braking it or street driving it with Ford type F tranny fluid

I've had a trans blanket on mine for 7 years of street driving in well over 100°+ temps without any issues… other than that blanket starts to look pretty filthy under there after awhile. Every so often I take it off and scrub it down with some laundry detergent and a brush because I can't stand having anything grimy on it. I saw no discernible differences in temps with or without it - but I also have a lockup convertor that stops all the convertor slipping and trans fluid warming.

What?

What I was trying to say is that after I put the trans blanket on last Sept it was getting cooler outside and I have not driven it in real hot weather with the blanket on it. Ron

Ron...I ran a blanket on mine for a few years before I went to the CSR shield. Never had any problems on the street.

I use a Loftgren blanket, which only covers the top of the transmission. I always wanted to thank Chuck for it, looks like I just did.

I run the Lofgren blanket (pretty expensive for what you get) on my 904 with a loose 8" 5500 stall converter on the street....Even on the hottest of days my temps never got over 180 degrees in the trans. Mind you I do use a large B&M cooler, but I feel a cooler is a necessity on any street driven car with some kind of converter in it
