Those of you that use green bearings: Does the thrust block need to be removed in the diff? I'm mostly concerned with '66 & up 8 3/4 rears. Thanks!

If you are running second generation snap-ring style (MO-400/ST-400) green bearings, a stock housing, stock brakes and stock axles, you can leave the thrust block intact.

I took Doc Diff's advice and left it in, no problem.

I swap back and forth on my 2 chunks..the 489-3.91sg has the block, then 742-3.23 open has no block.

I run the axle seals and I have run with out them a few yrs now with out seal... just the o-ring on the green bearing.. so far it has not leaked past o-ring or thru the sealed bearing.

it is better to run them for added protection against leaks but I boogerd the last set with a BFH and running without them till next gear swap.

Thanks guys... I've installed the snap-ring style in a 68 Dart & 71 Challenger. No problems, but I was just curious. I was not aware of a non snap-ring style. I wonder if someone has a pic of one? After thinking about this, I was wondering if it would even make a difference if the thrust block was removed as a precaution? Appreciate the help!
