I also posted this in the street rodder section, but I hang out here most of the time and figure you guys may have some insight on sorting the t-ram out.

I have completed my small block powered t-bucket and have been driving it. I am now having an issue with my carbs. I have a pretty big custom cam, with a lot of duration, so I'm sure I dont have the greatest signal. I am trying to make 600 cfm vacuum secondary Holley's work. At the moment, other than the idle being a little on the rich side, idle and driveablity are pretty good. The issue comes in at wide open throttle, there just isnt any. I have the QTF adjustable secondary kits installed and have tried to slow the opening way down. It just acts like it goes dead lean, stumbles, spits through the carbs and doesnt really recover until I back out of the throttle. I'm in between getting the secondary metering block conversions and adding the secondary diaphram covers with the balance tubes or calling somebody about some custom carbs. Any and all advice on either would be appreciated. Could I actually be way over carbed and need say a 390 or 450 to speed up the air and improve the signal?
Thanks in advance,
John

block off the second carb and see what it runs like on one. twin 600s sounds like a lot of carb for a small block. what do your plugs looks like? my guess is your not going lean but flooding out. vacuum secondarys dump a lot of gas to over compensate for the lack of rear squirter. whats your vacuum at WOT?

What power valves are you running and what is your vacuum at idle? If the power valves are open at idle, that would cause both problems that you describe.
How is the distributor set up?

Block the power valves, they will not work on a Tunnel Ram.You will have enough fuel that you won't need them.Sometimes with a Tunnel Ram & 2 carbs you have more cfm's (air)than you have fuel & need to richen(add more fuel) it up.

For best results on a tunnel ram, block the power valves, convert the carbs to 4-corner idle circuits, install a 50cc accelerator pump on each carb. For the secondaries, get the spring kits (2), and put the stiffest spring in both of them to start. For jetting, you'll want to start about 4 numbers leaner than stock for the carb. The secondary plates that you can put jets in would be a real good idea so that you can lean down the back side also. This will get you in the ballpark, In reality you would be better with a pair of 600 double pumpers, but the vacuum secondary carbs can be made to work. Tunnel rams aren't that hard to dial in, but they seem to scare most people away.

I run two 750 Demon DP on my small block. 77 jets at all eight corners, no power valves, 30cc pumps and .028 squirters. It's a little fat right now so I need to do some tuning but it's very close.
