Ive seen pics of stepside "California Specials" before but I dont know if there were any wide boxs. They were standard trucks with fancy paint jobs..

Plans are to pick it up Saturday I'll take more pics then.Thinking one of my 440s will fit nicely. Original a 318. I'd love to go the a stick but I have a couple bb727 and a married 205 which would be cool. But then I'd want to convert to part time 4x4. So as of right now just going to try and build it with all these left over parts or sell/trade what I need. Everything I've done in the past has always been way off budget. I just couldn't see this one go the crusher. Plans are to try and keep the look ,no repaint roll it like it is try to fix and clean up what I can while making it look original. It's funny I told my self I didn't need it but as I walked around I would look at stuff it needed and say ok I have that and that. So it just felt right.

I think it was a really good deal it's got a bb 727 in it already even. Here in California at least in SoCal inflate the prices saying rust free etc, they don't give you the real scoop on smog or reg fee. With this truck it was a right time rights place and on my part having the parts to finish which makes it a good deal for the seller and myself.

You really have to have a smog test on a '76 model?? That is 38 years!!! In Washington state it is a rolling 25 year every other year deal. My '87 had to pass in 2012 and the '89 Chev had to pass in 2013 and now both of them are exempt. I am glad I live here.

yea we are kinda screwed here in california, Needless to say I have all the smog stuff for a big block mopar truck. I even picked up a a smog legal quadrajet edelbrock was making in case the thermo quad wears out. at least on the bigblock there's no air pump and all that. picked up the truck yesterday. everything went well. I will upload some photos later.
