I'm thinking of changing from my traditional sealed beam Halogen headlights in the Charger. I'd love to upgrade to better lights and am interested in hearing from those with the High Intensity Discharge headlights. I once had H4 headlights in a 76 Camaro. They had replaceable bulbs with a wide range of watt ratings. What do you guys use?

Dont you need 5 1/4" lights. I think 5" will fall out of the buckets.

Either Hella E-codes or Delta E-codes make nice drop-in replacements.

I've used both and prefer the Hellas. They have flat lenses, which can look out of place, but should be a non-issue on a Charger.

Stick with standard wattage bulbs.

Do the relay upgrade in conjunction and you'll be very happy with results.

99% of the HID stuff is crap, and doesn't meet any safety standard (ECE or FMVSS).

I've used the Philips HID conversion (the German Manufactured one) with great results.

Just make sure you aim them right and maybe a tad low, nobody wants to see that behind them or coming at them.
Thanks...

I have the the HID ballasts and bulbs on my 69 Charger. I absolutely love them. I too have had the H4 with the painless wiring kit (On my 70 Charger once upon a time)and it did a good job but the HID blows it away. I bought the 4 matching Hella housings, I think I dropped $180 on the four plus another $40 for the Sylvania for the Hi beam side and another $175 for the HID kit....I aimed my headlights lower than normal and they still bother other drivers BUT they are approved for EU roads...
