For anyone planning a six pack on their 440 and has or wants a/c, a few pics of how I did it.

pass side hard line ( I just ordered aluminum line of the correct size, with the ends I needed and bent it to fit, readily available from the aftermarket a/c suppliers)

Didn't use a kit, I jumped the gun 10 years ago and bought a sanden compresser and a universal evaporator/heater/defroster box from Vintage Air, designed, I believe, for street rod use. This was before anyone was offering a kit for an e body. I made the compresser brackets from factory bb a/c brackets and made up everything else from universal fit stuff. Nope, single groove w/p pulley.

you did a great job on your A/C install......most people don't understand how much work is takes to get the A/C working in our old cars and especially look as good as your car's install looks.

You did a nice job...I'm wondering. ..Do you think it might need some insulation{or wrap} on the hard lines inside the cabin ??...Something as simple as the foam waterline insulation from lowes...Just to keep the condensation/temp transfer down to a minimum...The only reason I ask is because most factory and aftermarket kits have some sort of drip tray designed into the system to catch the condensation coming off the steel parts inside the cabin...

I had trouble smoking the single WP belt when the 6 bbl kicked in ..I"m using the dayco top cog belts and they just would'nt hold no matter how tight it was adjusted...You kicked it and it was squealing.....But I've got a touch over 500hp and it winds up fast for a belt configuration that was never meant to have that kind of torture... The double groove pulley cured that...

You're right Colin, I still have to wrap the larger a/c line from the box to the firewall. The evaporator kit had the wrap included with it. There is a drain hose routed out of the bottom of the evaporator box that has to go outside the car, (drats, another hole to drill). If you noticed there are no clamps on the heater hoses yet either. I also am installing the heater control valve in one of the flexible hoses under there before I finish up. As far as the one belt water pump pulley, I haven't driven the car with this configuration of belts, so I don't know if it will squeal under high rpm or not...

Nice install, but you should have cut the extra mounting lugs off the compressor and had a condenser made for both inlet and outlet connections to connect at passenger top corner of the condenser to eliminate the driver side hose, for a cleaner look of both. Just my opinion.

I actually thought about that, but the three hoses (low side a/c, and both heater) coming by the dist is tight now, and I felt that the extra hose would make that situation worse. Also, the high side hose on factory a/c cars follows that route, so I was ok with it.

Yes I understand the tight fit of the hoses coming by the distributor. We used a custom 5/8 stainless line approx 10 inches long before mounting a big hose on it and I had a custom passenger top corner in let and out let condenser built to clean up the look. This allowed for better fitment of the hoses coming by the distributor, and it worked out perfect. If my car wasn't being stored in a bubble right now I would take pices and send them to you. You did a great job though, and I applaued you for taking the extra time. Because thats what it takes for a clean job at the end of the build and it will show. I did it with a hemi, and I wanted it to look like it belonged and as if Chrysler should would have built it that way if a hemi car came with a/c.

Good idea, wish I had cut off the extra ears.
