Pull hard, sometimes pull very hard, sometimes pull VERY hard.

pull really hard. clamp the pushrod in a vice close to the piston, but leave enough room to put two open end wrenches between the piston and vice, and then pry the piston off the rod with the wrenches.

put a round rod thru the brake rod's end
'hook' the round rod on the side of a vice with the brake rod's end in the vice
put an open wrench over the small dia of the rod and up against the piston and hit the wrench with a hammer to pop the brake rod out of the plastic bushing inside the piston end.
