i have a mini starter on mine, and still have to lift the engine and drop the header to replace it, (which i did a week ago), but it is a hemi.
i remember the days of my hemi gtx, all those decades ago. it was a daily driver. bought it and sold it with the same starter, about a 4 year period. cranked that 10.25:1 engine happily, even with a lot of timing.
i would use it. you have it, and like the sound.
i had headers on my gtx as well, and so the heat never seemed to be an issue.
i say go for it.

My stock 70 383 used to eat rebuilt Chrysler starters.
I am dropping a mini on my 74 slanty Dart. I have one on the 72 slant Duster.
I'll keep the others as spares. Future big money date coded cores!!!!

I use dealer purchased Mopar Mini and no issues. Also, have the TTI headers, 440, 10 to 1, and don't have to lift or pull anything to change the starter.

I run a used, old style starter in my 472 Hemi and no problems in 3 years so far. I like the sound of the old ones too.

Thanks guys, I've got two that I can rebuild and I just like the sound of them. Plus it'll be cheaper than a new mini starter. I refuse to buy one from NAPA for a new age dodge because I've had bad luck with their rebuilt starters and I don't want to pay dealer price for one. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't totally crazy and that others are still using them!

I was just lucky enough to have two orig. motors that still hade them on there. The 440 I built was running when I bought it in a '66 newyorker.
