Depends on what application you are talking about.

old school, indefinitely for mild to stock applications.

Newer TTY (torque to yield) once, officially. I've reused them in stock applications after inspecting to ensure the threads were not stretched.

Just know that stock replacement head bolts are pretty inexpensive (like 40 bucks from Rock Auto). If you're building a new motor, I wouldn't skimp.

That being said, if it's not a torque to yield application, and they visually check out with no damage that would create a stress riser, you should be fine re-using them. Just thoroughly clean the threads and lube properly to get the correct torque reading.

Edit: Just checked Rock Auto. The no longer list LA bolts, but they've got Magnum-type (23 bucks).

couldn't find them on Rock Auto, but found them at NAPA
on line to my house $34.

forgot to ad it's a Magnum headed LA.
didn't want to press my luck, this would have been
the fourth time for this set of bolts, 9.5-1, 480ish

I reuse the stock head and main bolts until they won't toruqe properly anymore You can feel them start to fail, if you recognize the signs

I think Magnums are TTY bolts and they are different lengths than an LA.

How I inspect TTY bolts is to lay a straight edge on the threads, if any do not all touch they get replaced.

Just thoroughly clean the threads and lube properly

I've always used new motor oil, is there something
else I should be using?

If the threads look good I clean em with a brush then dip the threads in 30 wt eng oil then blow the threads off good with shop air. A drop of oil under the bolt head when going together
