Hi!

I was wondering which wheel options were available on a 69 HEMI Charger back in the day?

Thanks!

I forgot the recall wheels.i think the 15 inch wheel covers look good even though they look like they came off a truck or a polara!

Man those 15" covers i dont likey!!

I guess I will have to go the 15" steelies and poverty hub caps on my HEMI charger, I dont have the buildsheet, so I dont know what came on the car originally....

Does somebody repro the recall wheels?

A HEMI car doesn't "deserve" dog dishes, IIRC Specialty Wheel was making 15" Recall wheels marketed under the name of "Road Warrior" style wheel, IIRC production dropped off for some time, I don't know if it resumed?, if not, some may still be in stock?..

Specialty Wheel does, there may be others. The wheel shown on their site is quite dark but maybe it is just the pic. The factory wheels were not that dark.

EDIT: Looks like Dayclona types faster than me!

I've had a set of their Recall wheels, the "argent" finish was light...I'd recommend a trim ring be added to emulate the appearance of the OEM wheel, as Specialty's wheel is a cast center(they have a steel insert embedded in the casting to avoid the issues, the OEM wheels had, FYI) welded into a chromed steel rim

Standard steel wheel was part# 2944169, 15x6. The 450 wheels are 15x7.

I made the mistake of going dog dishes on my 69 Hemi GTX although even with non stock 15x8 in the back. I would never do that again, period mags for a 66-69 HemiCar, well for me anyway.

The 15x6 steel wheel is an H wheel for 1969, no part number or pentastar was stamped on the wheel for 1969 but the part was 2944169. A correct set of date coded real H wheels can set you back 3-5K. I have 4 perfect 3/13 and 1 3/12 H wheels for my A12, I have had offers of 5k for them but they are not for sale

I have a set of 5 perfect 2944155 15x6.5 wheels on my R/T , Galen's book doesn't even list them, they are 70 date code but I don't care and they were cheap

I have them on my Coronet 500 vert, I like the chrome wheel without the trim ring, I'm not going for 100% stock look. The problem with the repops is they are 15x7 or 15x8 wide where originals are 15x6 so original size tires will look funny on them.

The 450 wheel is 70 and later and should not be compared to 69 wheels and 69 cars

Dayclona,

That pic of the green charger with the recall wheels looks killer, I think Im gonna go with the repros.

15x7 in the front and 15x8 in the rear

BF Goodrich Radial TAs 235 front 275 rear.

Should look good....dont you guys think???

The original tires on a 69 Charger look wimpy anyway!!!!

Have I ever steered you wrong! ...recalls would look real sharp on your HEMI Charger...they'll be spendy, your looking at $1200+USD for a set of 4 rims, but it's a HEMI car, as far as max tire size, I run 255/60/15 front and 275/60/15 rear on my 70 Charger on 15X7 rims with 4.250 backspacing, no contact/rubbing

Not to be a spoil sport but the truck wheel covers aren't the same..
I have several sets of passenger car covers besides whats on my '68 roadrunner plus... nos truck covers.
The stainless is a slightly different design.

Looking at your pictures.. The C-body outer covers probably are a match. They have the extra rib.

Specialty Wheel has dropped the ball on the recall wheels, they are no longer making em.

And if they do, it will probable be a few years till the make another run of those....

So????

I guess Im just gonna get me some steelies and hubcaps....
Or maybe a set of Cragar SS wheels? They look good on a 69 Charger....

Nope, I didnt even ask...

But I guess its just a matter of limited demand. I dont see anybody but 69 Charger guys ordering those...

And for the price, most would opt for another aftermarlet styled wheel???

I'm using them on my 69 Coronet 500 convertible, but you are right, I mostly see them on Chargers

Were those available ion any model Dodge in 69???

Still I dont see that big of a demand on them...

Only 69 Dodge guys that wanna look "stockish" because they arent even 100% correct for a resto.

They would have probably sold more if they had made em 100% correct?

I dont knoww.....still it sucks, I was already envisioning my Charger with those rims and an 8" out back with a bigger tire.

How concerned are you with being 'correct'???

Could step outside the box and go with a 15" 'Magnum'...

Im not concerned at all on staying stock on the tires and wheels. They are so easy to swap I couldnt care less!!!

In fact, I do have a set of 15 x 7" magnums with the chromed lips here at the shop right now...but I never cared much for the looks of those....I dont like magnum wheels all that much....

Importing used auto parts into Peru can be a real hassle since its BANNED.

I have lost a bunch of parts at customs because of that. Its a gamble...so when I can avoid that I do. I just ordered those cragars.

Really, why is it banned? Some things just can't be bought new.

There's nothing better than the "All Business" looks of a painted steelie with the dog dish caps in my personal opinion. I had an F8 dart GTS, and with the redline dodge centers, they looked great. These cars weren't mass produced for "Show", they were meant to go really fast on a straight line and leave others at the line polishing there wheels!!!!!

Sorry Dave, had to be said.........

Perhaps Galen should start looking in Chrysler parts books.

They are shown for C body wagons.

I have several buddies that do not like them & do not like them on my Charger at all. I run them anyway. They all think there were just over used. Um, yeah. For a good reason. Because it is the coolest wheel ever made.....

Very old post here.....Can anyone shed some light on this 2944169 H wheel. Appears to be dated 2 22 71 (M51) next to valve stem. Would this be a service part? Or, did Mopar use these in production after 1970? What is the estimated value of a single wheel dated 71 versus the more desirable 68-70 dates.? H is visible on front side. Just filled in with a couple coats of paint.
